Simply Outstanding!

Some are Air Force Pararescue. What do you do when you wish to leave the military and yet need to profit by your abilities?Travis Lane and his brother-in-law are Air Force PJs. When his brother-in-law is killed on a mission, Travis gives thought to the ten-acre family farm owned by him and his sister. The farm needs money. The farm needs work. Travis leaves the Air Force with plans to work the farm.Travis is approached by a private company, Broadside Solutions, with a job offer. Broadside Solutions is a private military. When an organization needs help to rescue an employee in a foreign land, they call Broadside. Within minutes the team is airborne. They have incredible resources and they end up in hostile situations. An American woman is kidnapped in the Republic of the Congo by a heavily armed group. Broadside is called. Travis Lane is on the team that is called. The others on the team regard him as a rookie. It does not take long for Travis to show who is the real warrior.“The Guardian” by author Joshua Hood was recently released. This author is new to this reader. The story was solid. The writing was real. This reader was impressed. This reader ran into a lot of PJ’s during the Vietnam war. These guys were solid. Many were simply quiet warriors. Additional novels by author Hood have now been ordered. Fabulous work!

Another author I’m going to need to follow
Good story. Fast paced.Believable heroes. No super fantastic tech stuff. Enough action to make me feel fatigued. I look forward to reading more by Joshua Hood.

Fantastic page turner that will leave you wanting more as soon as it ended.
After reading The Treadstone books( spin-off of The Bourne Identity books) by Joshua Hood, I came across The Guardian here on Amazon. I was half was through The Treadstone Transgression when I saw this being released in a couple weeks at the time. Let me start off by saying this book is action-packed, the pacing is breakneck speed and 100% pure escapism at its finest. Travis Lane is one of the best New protagonists in the thriller genre. This book was a breath of fresh air. We always read about Seals, delta operators and marine raiders but seldom do we read about PJs. This book had me hooked after the first chapter and couldn't put it down. If you are a fan of the thriller genre like myself this is a must have for the library and I cannot wait for a sequel. Joshua Hood hit another home run!.

Five Stars for Entertainment
Well it ain’t the Iliad or the Odyssey…But you weren’t looking for Greek classics and I don’t think Joshua Hood was trying to write one (I get the feeling he’s read them). This is a solidly written action novel with both likeable male and female leads who tackle escalating bad situations with grit and a bit of style. It’s cool to see AF Special Warfare guys getting a spot in the action genre like the SEALs, Green Berets, and intelligence communities before them.Lastly, I really appreciated that efforts were made to keep the action within the scope of believable. Yeah, it would take some (a LOT) of effort and luck, but if you’re struggling to suspend disbelief, google Duane Hackney…

Believable story lines and action packed!
The story flowed with the action and was believable. The character building was a very interesting concept and it wasn't very hard to read. The author put you into the action with the characters. Easy read and I will look into the next book in this series.

A fantastic story
Joshua Hood is now part of my pantheon of favorite authors. Loved every minute of reading this book and am looking to reading more. Love Travis Lane. Great man to have in your corner for his fighting and medical skills.I would habe liked to habe known more what happened to Sterling and Roos. I think this book would make a great movie. Now I know what a PJ is.

The Guardian
If you just watched Extraction II and are eager for another one, you can basically just read this book. Joshua Hood's new novel is hopefully the first in a new action series with an original premise and character. Travis Lane is a former Air Force special operator and pararescue jumper who, desperate for cash, is recruited into a private security company that specializes in extracting people from dangerous environments, in this case the Congo. It's an entertaining, fast-paced action thriller, and the premise offers plenty of potential for future stories.

Excellent, consistent thriller
Nice pace to the action. Utterly believable with good character development. Maybe a little loose with US bureaucracy, but it kept things moving along very well.

good read
Having was his treadstone books this was a marked change , a little complicated at times. Overall a good read, the ending was a little short, as though that will do, obviously more to follow.

Brilliant Read
Hood has the touch when it comes to gritty action orientated novels. The ability to create key characters that resonate with the reader and keep them engaged with the story line is essential to crafting a great read. I look forward to Book 2 in the series
