Works great!
I used this on an HP ProLiant DL360 server, which only has a VGA output. I connected the included micro USB cable (which powers the adapter) from the adapter to a USB port on the back of the server.This allowed me to convert VGA to an HDMI output so that I could connect to a modern monitor. There isn't any config - just plug it in and it works. Easy Peasy.

Great product
The media could not be loaded. Super useful for my set up. I needed a converter to hdmi and this worked great for that.

Gets hot - draws 0.3A - a lot for a small device!
I plugged this into my server box, which only has a VGA out. I plugged the required USB cable into a nearby USB charger with a current meter and found that this drew a lot of current for such a simple product. The drawback of this design is that it gets very hot, so I wonder how durable it will be in the long run. It had better picture quality than a VGA capture card that costs nearly 10 times more!UPDATE - 6 months later -- Turns out not very durable.. I only used it one time and shelved it, but now. the product is completely dead. No output, and it doesn't draw any power (0mA).

Low resolution only.
Reset your pc for Low resolution or you will not get to the login screen. Package arrived in an open amazon package with cables missing. 1080p? No!

It works
This device works. The only issue is the output is 480p. Did not try the audio though since I use this on my DVR to output to my TV. My CCTV cameras only produce video, no audio.

My old laptop that I put Linux on because Windows is becoming a problem, did not have HDMI output. Now it does and it works great.

Didn't work on my setup
It didn't work on my setup - maybe lack on instructions or equipment. So might try out different situations.I have a HP laptop 12 years old with HDMI and VGA. Also try 14" Dell RGB monitors to work with it, they are also 12 years old. From HP VGA to VGA monitor works fine with a VGA cable, but from HP HDMI I only can get things working through a powered HDMI switch with a HDMI>>VGA cable to the monitor from the HDMI switch. Cannot make it work with all HDMI cables to this HDMI-RGB connector. I also tried the USB power with no luck. So it seems it is either this adapter or the 12 year old Dell monitor. I think it is most likely this adapter. As from the HDMI switch I can run four monitors.
