Teaching the Bible in the Church

Very illuminating - first chapter alone is worth the price
The first chapter on how the brain works -- and the real-life implications thereof for how we learn -- is alone worth the price of the book. Solid science, and understandable explanations. Some parts are a little more dense than others, but this is a book that a can function like a reference book -- i.e., one could profitably return to it multiple times over the years. It is helpful reading not only for those who teach the Bible in the church but for ministers interested in shaping sermons that authentically interpret and communicate the meaning of scripture. Contains some very practical examples of how to shape Bible study that is critically sound, spiritually solid and fully engaging for people of various ages.

Extremely Helpful Resource for Teaching All Ages in the Church
The first two chapters of this book especially offer excellent information about how people learn and how we teach. It helped me articulate how I convey information to my group of confirmation students in a way that connects with their experience, creates space for them to engage with the material, and hopefully gives them ways to integrate what they are learning into their lives. I appreciate the way this book frames the task and joy of teaching.

Amazing Book...must have for Christian Educators
Amazing text...it was required reading for a seminary class. But, it has truly given me new insights that have improved the way I teach Bible classes at my church. Great addition to the reference library for serious Christian Educators!

excellent preparation for Bible teaching
Book discusses methods of teaching; how we teach, why we teach, and how we learn. Christian educators should read this book. I read it for a class with the same topic in seminary. book is not so lofty in terminology that non seminarians can't follow it. I recommend this book for Sunday school teachers and Bible study teachers as well as pastors.

For the church leader's library
An easy-to-follow guide for identifying the best method to teach biblical wisdom. This book is listed on a reading list for those interested in leading mission studies. I have referred to Bracke's book many times as I prepare mission studies and Sunday school lessons.

Sovereignty of God
If you believe God is sovereign and He directed, through man, the creation of the Bible, this book is not for you. Bracke and Tye remove God from the authorship of the Bible and they place people in the position of interpreting who God is and how He wants us to live.

Teaching Bible
Provided useful information for preachers and teachers of all ages. This will be a useful reference for me, not just a read and shelve textbook.
