First - an olympics highlights dvd it isn't
If you want a Olympics highlights DVD this isn't it. If you want to re-feel the raw emotion of the games, understand what drives people to achieve greatness, First is for you. Caroline Rowland is a story teller with the fantastic ability to produce the most incredible emotional responses from her audience - she was part of the UK Olympic bid winning team and produced the video the arguably helped the UK win. First, gives you a taste of that Olympic winning spirit, directed by someone who knows how to win.

First (The Official Film of the London 2012 Games) This is not the DVD with the games footage/opening & closing ceremonies on.
Not quite what I was expecting, but an enjoyable film. Profiles some of the athletes who went on to compete in the games. Interesting to look back at where they started out. Be aware that this is not the DVD with the opening & closing ceremonies on, and does not contain the day-by-day footage. There are no extras.

Not that great.
After having read some of the reviews, I was looking forward to seeing this film. Unfortunately, there are no subtitles and I knew this when I purchased it but bought it anyway thinking it wouldn't be a problem. I just thought about how great the Olympics were to watch on TV and how it would be good to see segments about certain individuals. Well, without the subtitles it was difficult to follow a few of the competitors segments due to not being able to understand their English very well. I just don't understand how in this day and age that someone produces films or documentaries without subtitles! There are many individuals with diminished hearing capacity, myself included, and require or appreciate having the subtitles. Is it so costly or difficult to include subtitles?!

Essential viewing for all fans of London 2012
This is a top quality production - you can tell it was made by a "proper" film director. It is beautifully shot and very creative, giving a different perspective on the games - less obvious than the BBC highlights package. It really captures the spirit, excitement & atmosphere of the games. Well worth watching.
