Straight but Durable Nut Splitter set
These nut splitters are very robust with hardened steel wedges. I like that they come with a case and in a set capable of handling nuts from 1/8" up to 1 1/16", allowing me to grab just the right size for each situation. Sure, in most situations you can probably just cut the nut/bolt off and start from scratch. But sometimes it's important to retain the bolt or stud for reuse, and that's were a nut splitter comes in handy. If the threads inside are not too corroded, you can salvage the bolt/stud with this tool. Most nut splitters that I've used in the past are canted slightly at an upward angle, to allow double leverage in the splitting angle of the nut. So I see this set having a slight disadvantage compared to those others. However, this is a durable set, and Duratech is a great brand, earning my trust over and over with durable tools that you can count on!

Very useful for automotive repair
This is a very decent set for splitting nuts that just won't come loose. They are very useful for automobile restoration projects where a torch is sometimes used to break the nuts loose. I found this set useful for working on a rusted tablesaw I have. It worked well for getting nuts off that I would have ended up using an angle grinder for. Overall a great product!Things I like about this set:- wide selection of sizes- comes with great case- good qualityOverall it's a great set!

Have not tested on strong metal yet
This works great on soft metals, like grade 2 or 3 nuts, but I have not tried it on anything like grade 8.. I have used stuff like this in the past, with the same hardness on grade 5 bolts, and it worked great.. But I have never run into a situation where I needed one on a grade 8, or 10.9 metric bolt, or nut.. So all I can verify is that it works on softer metals right now..

worked perfect with minimal effort
The nut splitter worked perfect, pick the right size for the nut you need to split by using the smallest one that fits onto the nut. then use a adjustable wrench to hold the splitter in place as you use a ratchet or wrench on the end and tighten it to split the nut. In my case there was a clear cracking sound when it split it on each side. Only thing you would want to be careful of is to not drive it too far and start cutting into the bolt threads. No visible damage to the blade after using it twice on one nut. Also I was just using an adjustable wrench to drive the splitter in and while it took some effort it was by no means hard to do. Overall the tool worked perfect and the set isn't expensive either.

Handy as a last resort
I've been meaning to get one of these for a while now, but they kept going out of stock. Found a whole set, which is even better! These are nicely made and work great when you're out of options. Used them recently to separate some vintage theater seats where the bolts were spalling.

Works as expected
These Duratech nut breakers work exactly as described. I didn't have a real seized nut to test them on so I just used a scrap nut on a bolt. I started the job with the #2 breaker but then found it was much easier to do the job jumping up to the #3 size breaker. I did find out that it's pretty easy to accidentally damage the threads on your bolt/stud if you fully split the nut so if you need to save your bolt/stud threads go very slowly and stop tightening the breaker as soon as the nut cracks.
