A very easy five star read
If I could, I will rate this book a thousand stars. It’s so beautifully written. There is literally nothing more I could ask for in a book 💯💯

Slow to start but a wonderful second half of the book. The lore was so interesting and I loved the exploration of the spirit world. Also the growth of these characters over the two books was excellent. Well thought out - they didn’t become heroes overnight but gradually over time really fleshed out.

A Brilliant Follow Up
A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross - ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 (4.5 out of 5 stars)I finished this weeks ago but as usual, my review is very late! The follow up to A River Enchanted, this Celtic-mythology-inspired duology has been a real treat to read, especially in the beautiful Illumicrate versions! ❤️Bits I liked:- Fabulous cast of characters with complicated relationships and unique personalities- Solid world building with an interesting split magic system, emphasising the differences between east and west communities- Amazing descriptions of the food, cultural dress and magical elements, so things felt vivid and believeable- Exciting plot, with each book having it's own quest elements and goals, but also an overarching story across the two- Romance and passion is done well, not cringy or gratuitous (personal preference)Bits I liked less:- The pacing had a few issues, mainly towards the very end, where the climax felt sudden & short, and it felt like things wrapped up really fast compared to the rest of the books- The cast could have been more diverse, as it was all very homogeneous- It felt like certain fae elements of the story weren't utilised fully, such as Bane or Kae, though they still featured well in the storyThey're only small things really, as overall it was a wonderful duology that I thoroughly enjoyed 😊 I highly recommend them both, and I'd be happy to revisit the Isle of Cadence again one day!Thank you to Netgalley and Harpercollinsuk for the ARC - my opinions are my own, honest and given freely.

Full of heart and beautiful, lyrical prose.
“You reminded me to breathe— to inhale, to exhale. You reminded me of all the gleaming moments we shared, even if it had just been for a season. You reminded me of what could still be if I was brave enough to reach out and claim it.”Rebecca Ross has captured my heart; I absolutely loved this gem of a book. A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless have become two of my very favourite books, are my favourite duology of 2022, and will stay with me forever.A Fire Endless builds on the world, mysteries and plot of A River Enchanted, yet is very much its own book. For the first time, we enter the unknown West of the isle; a very different world and people to that of the East. This fantasy is full of the same heart and beautiful, lyrical prose as the first book. I loved the Scottish vibes – think Outlander blended with utterly wondrous folktales and fantasy. Entering the world of the West, I enjoyed seeing its new, fascinating, deadlier and more dangerous customs and traditions. I enjoyed seeing the spirit world in this book too.Protagonists Jack, Adaira, Torin and Sidra were so real and human; they spoke to me, and I have taken them straight into my heart. A different side to them is revealed as they are put in situations outside of their natural strengths. The question is; will they thrive, or indeed, survive? Complicated long-lost family relations only added to a gripping plot.I heartily recommend A Fire Endless. I would love for Rebecca Ross to write more in this world and I now need to devour her entire back catalogue.

Beautifully Lyrical and Atmospherical
Things are becoming even more desperate for the residents of Cadence on both sides of the Clan Line. With Adaira now in the West, Jack is at a loss. But it soon becomes apparent that something must be done about the Spirit Bane, who intends to rule over the mortals too.A Fire Endless has the same lush atmosphere as its predecessor. The book is so beautifully written, and Rebecca Ross proves once again that she is an immensely talented author with a real flair for world building.

Headlines:Sweeping storylineClan battlesFamilyHaving liked book one but not loved it, A Fire Endless pretty much added a 100 x boost to my interest in this world, the characters and the story. I got swept up straight away with Cadance and the clans with my love for Adaira, Sidra, Jack and Torin increasing. I said when I read book one that it gave me vibes from Marillier's Sevenwaters tales and that remained true. There was so much to this second installment of the tale and the storyline was strong, complex and magical. I really enjoyed how the fae-folk (spirit) realm crossed over with the human realm and how those fae-folk characters came into more focus. Kae and Hap were particular favourites. In terms of my favourite human characters all the kudos has to go to the women of this piece, namely Sidra who I adored and Adaira whose strength and leadership was epic. The story of the blight, the Breccon clan and life in that castle was just gripping. The story was told in such a personal way, through the eyes of characters readers already care about, that the pages just flew by even though there were a lot of pages. The sense of family in this book is so prominent; blood and found. That's the overwhelming feeling I'm left with at the end. I feel so satisfied about the duology overall and I recommend to all my fantasy reading friends.Thank you to Harper Voyager and InstaBook Tours for the review copy.

A fitting end to a beautiful duology.
This story was so beautiful and ambient. I loved the vibes so much - late summer turning into autumn on an enchanted Scottish island full of magic and folklore. I really liked that we explored the Spirit world more in this book and finally got to see what the hell happened to the West to make them how they are now. I thought it was very fitting to see both sides of the story to the rivalry and to find out how the hierarchy in the spirit world was established. The romance is beautiful and makes you just love - love. I was a little irritated with the strain that was put on Jack and Adaira in the beginning of the book due to a silly misunderstanding that created an unnecessary distance between them. I really hate the "We're so in love we'll die for each other!" and then "Oh actually we might lose this relationship because we can't seem to communicate all of sudden!". It was explained well and the author smoothed it all over for me by the middle of the book but it put me out a bit at first. In the end this is a wonderful duology and the perfect ending to this book. Pick it up - you will not regret it! You'll only regret not being able to jump into this world for real!
