Q: any problem having this door in a rainy climate, getting wet a lot? Get rusty etc? Live on Oregon coast..

The body is all aluminum so no on the rust. Have had ours installed about 6mos. And weathered several substantial storms, no visible infiltration. Double flap has held up in strong wind, and now that temps have dropped to freezing at night, not noticing much draft. I'd still plan to put it thru a wall that has an overhang of some sort and add your own flashing over the top of the door. I'd say this is your best bet for Oregon wx.

Q: Does this Pet door prevent rodents from entering?

The magnets on this door do seal very well so sometimes even cats and even small dogs have trouble pushing it until they have been trained properly. Small rodents like mice will most likely not be able to push the doors open to get in. That said, larger animals like raccoons or skunks would have more strength so it is less likely to keep them out. If you did have an issue with the larger animals there are pet doors, like the High Tech Power Pet Doors, that are electronic and since they only open for your pet when they approach the door wearing a collar key it keeps other animals out.

Q: Are the panels flexible at all? Seems like it would trap a dog if it backed up

The panels are made of a nylon-type material & have some give to them. They're hollow-cored, so they insulate much better than ordinary flaps and are sectioned so they bend. They're much stiffer than normal flaps, but will bend if needed. I don't see how the dog could get trapped because they will stay flat like a chute until the dog clears the door, but if they were to get bound up by it, the flaps would give enough to allow escape.

Q: Do you feel air come through the sides of the flap, like in the winter?

Not generally. If flap is closed than no air although it is a bit cooler in the area around the door. When the dog goes in/out of course there is a brief air influx. We own the single door model.
