It was designed loke the original but tolerances are way off. Vane 3 is supposed to lock vanes 1 and 2 in place before placing in the center hole but it doesn't and makes it more awkward to install. The handle is a bit loose, and the vanes don't seal the vents very well.

I am a Weber Grill fanatic. I had a silver model for over 20 years, and it was great. I moved, gave it away, but when I got to my new location I upgraded to a One Touch Gold. Just because these are well built grills, and you can count on a relatively long life, doesn’t mean they don’t need occasional maintenance. The biggest maintenance items are the ash sweep wings into the vents. As you are aware, a Weber OTG has fins that scrape the coal ash for cleaning, and these things get some abrasion and wear.I would normally stick with the “genuine” components. But let’s be honest, these are formed sheet metal and not the most complex items from a fabrication perspective. Cut and stamp sheet metal via hydraulics => boom. So why not save a bit of money?As you install these, I recommend watching a video first. Not difficult, but they do need to be installed in order or the lever at the bottom doesn't aim where it is supposed to aim (speaking from experience).
