The Patron Saint of Second Chances: A Novel

Best Lighthearted, Funny Read of the Summer
I know this book came out last October, but I just recently discovered it and am a huge fan. I zipped through it in a few short days, and could not put it down. Much to the annoyance of my wife, who was trying to read near me, I laughed almost nonstop. I would estimate there was some thing that caused me to laugh out loud about every other page or so, and absolutely love the author's gentle, generous of spirit sense of humor and very organic style of character development. Signore Speranza and Smilzo provided me more laughs than any characters I've had the pleasure to read in a long while.

A fun and feel good read
This book had enough fun and flavor in it to keep me enjoying the read. A sweet story about one guy with a pretty big problem !! I generally read books containing more history or relevance but this was so enjoyable it definitely held my attention. Not a waste of time and good entertainment, so, a good purchase and I would recommend it for its different storyline and interesting cast of characters

Quirky Read
Signor Speranza is a vacuum repairman and the mayor of a very small village in Italy. He has a problem that cannot be fixed with chewing gum: the town's water pipes are hopelessly crumbling and Speranza needs to come up with an astronomical amount of money. The alternative is that the water commission will shut off water to the village and all its residents will be forced to move. Speranza hatches a plan, with the help of his wife and other members of the town, and spreads a rumor that movie star Dante Rinaldi will be filming his next project nearby. When things start to go awry, will they be able to pull it off and save the village? The Patron Saint of Second Chances is a quirky, quick read, but it is not fast paced. The plot is pretty simplistic and does not progress in a way that keeps a reader's interest. There is not a lot that sets this book apart and I do not find any of the characters to be so interesting that they are endearing. I found myself putting this novel down a lot and picking it back up later. Overall, it is a good beach read or a novel that readers can take to a doctor's office or on a plane.Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to read and review this novel was entirely my own.

Fun and Feel Good Book
This was my book club's choice and was concerned that is might not have been a good choice, but I was proved wrong ... it was so much fun to read and follow the antics of all the characters. The book is meant to provide a bit of silly and I enjoyed that. I loved that it enlightened me to a book that has a patron saint for everything under the sun ... thinking of making that book my next purchase!

Pretty Good
This is a cute, funny story that reads fast. While the plot sometimes seems silly and unbelievable, it is enjoyable. It would actually make a good rom-com movie.

Entertaining read
Feel it might make a better movie than book. A little slow and confusing at times. A quick read that is enjoyable.
