Compact Yet Mighty!!!
It's truly astonishing how much power Intel packed into this miniature PC. With my customized setup featuring an i7 processor, a half TB NVMe m.2 drive (non-name brand), and 16 GB of RAM, the NUC can handle almost anything except high-powered games. The abundance of valuable ports adds to its versatility. It even comes pre-loaded with Windows 10 Pro, soon to be upgraded to Windows 11 Pro.Despite its tiny size, the NUC's power supply brick is disproportionately large, but this minor inconvenience doesn't pose a real problem for me. It also includes a behind-the-monitor mounting bracket, although the NUC is so small that it can easily sit on a desk.Remarkably, the NUC can accommodate an internal SATA SSD, which is impressive considering its size. I added an old 1 TB drive for backup and storage, which worked flawlessly. The PCIe (Gen 3) NVMe and RAM can also be easily swapped out, allowing for future upgrades. What's even more impressive is the absence of a noisy fan; in fact, there's no fan at all. This contributes to its silent operation, making it ideal for various environments.I connected the NUC to my TV using the HDMI port, one of the many convenient ports it offers and used a wireless keyboard for control. However, this versatile NUC can be used virtually anywhere. It even boasts an SD slot for added convenience. In my opinion, these mini PCs are set to replace mainstream towers, including smaller ones, and will only continue to evolve and become more powerful. Compared to my current desktop, which is 50 to 100 times larger, the NUC and similar mini PCs get the job done exceptionally well for all but the most demanding gaming and graphics tasks.

fan keeps blowing, even while suspended (updated -- fixed!)
Update: I spoke with Intel tech support and they suggested trying the BIOS upgrade again. We went into the BIOS and despite the fact that I had previously updated, it was showing the old version. The latest BIOS release notes say that the only fix was to fix an error installing the previous BIOS so I must have run into that. After updating the BIOS again the fans have calmed way down. If I put the machine to sleep while the fans are blowing they calm down within a minute or two and seem to stay off.At this point the only drawback to this machine that I have encountered is the slow 3d performance, but that is to be expected with onboard graphics. In case you're impressed with how small it is, don't be fooled because the power brick is as big as the machine! All that said, it's a great little box for running desktop Linux and I'm very happy with it. One reason I bought this is because the last two laptops I bought came with "killer" wireless which was horrible (slow overall, very high latency). The wireless capability built into this one is great! It's super fast, super responsive, and I haven't had any latency issues whatsoever.Old version:Bought this, installed memory and storage, updated the BIOS to the latest version, then installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Everything seemed to run fine. The fan blows on and off during use, seemingly without rhyme or reason. Sometimes it'll blow while sitting at desktop with nothing open (and opening a terminal and looking at top indicates nothing is using excessive CPU). Sometimes I'll be doing a lot of work and the fan won't be blowing. Fine, it doesn't bother me that much either way. What bothers me is that when I put the thing to sleep ("suspend") the fan just keeps blowing. It will just keep blowing forever (I've left it overnight and it was still blowing in the morning). Once I wake it up it calms back down to its original behavior (on and off, possibly due to workload but maybe just random). I have searched the internet and only a few people have encountered this problem and only one posted a solution: they returned the nuc. I'm not really ready to give up on it quite yet so I'm going to contact Intel, but if they can't get it sorted I'll just have to return it.There are options in the BIOS to set fan behavior, and I tried changing mine from "balanced" to "quiet" and it didn't make any difference. There is an option in the BIOS to set it up for Legacy Suspend Mode, but when I went to enable this it warned me that I would have to reinstall my operating system. No thanks.

Small, rather powerful, Thunderbolt 3, and 3-year warranty by Intel
Quite an awesome piece of technology! Because it's small and consumes little energy.Too bad it becomes quite noisy when computing hard.I read it has poor graphics performance for video game, but I don't care since I don't use it for video games at all.I don't think there's anything I could get for a similar price, and that would have comparable computing power and power consumption. It consumes relatively very little energy: the i7-10710U CPU has a TDP of 25W max.I've tried it with several M2 NVME SSDs, including WD_Black SN750, Seagate Firecuda 520 and Samsung 980 PRO: they're not the same performance-wise, but quite similar. The Samsung one is the one that heats up the least, but it's not that significant for what I do.I also tried the 256GB Kingston M2 SSD that Intel ships with the NUC10I7FNHAA1 version: it's quite a slow SSD. It's not crazy bad, but the difference is quite noticeable. In "powersave" mode on Linux, it won't go much above 3900MHz, but will also limit the noise (of the fan).In "performance" mode, it'll go faster (about 4600MHz, not really sustained) but the fan will get much noisier.N.B. If it was a regular size PC, I'd probably give it 2 or 3 stars. But it's so small and consumes so little energy, and those things are important to me. The size: I don't have space for a regular PC tower. It's not that a PC wouldn't fit at home, it's more like there's nowhere it'd fit nicely. The power: in the summer, every Watt your PC uses is a Watt of extra heat you'll get. If you have cold summers where you are, you won't mind, but need A/C in the summer (because of my giant windows facing south), which means there's already too much heat in the summer. Every Watt counts!

I found it to be exactly as advertised
I prefer these small format boxes over the large boxes since I don't use them to play games and don't require large power supplies or graphic cards that need to be updated in order to keep up. I needed the horse power for my development work. I loaded it up with Linux ubuntu distribution 18.04LTS and all devices have been found and are working as I would expect. It was extremely easy for me to add in the various components required to finish off the complete system. I had to add in memory and a M.2 memory stick (SSD). The instructions laid it out quite clearly how to add in the SSD but not the memory. I had done it before so no problems (very easy and you can figure it out just by inspected the slots where they go).

Good unit, but wifi and bluetooth aren't as strong as I expected
Wifi and bluetooth aren't as strong as I hoped. For bluetooth my music starts chopping when I move the speaker a bit further like two rooms away, which is not a problem with my tablet for the same distance. I might have to buy an antenna lid for it as an extra. Used it for 7 months so far. It's been a good product other than that, just not understanding why its base wireless capabilities are like that, perhaps that's normal?

NUC 10i7FNH1 performance kit - great for custom built mini-PC
The NUC10 allows you to select size of SODIMM RAM, SSD flash drives (NVMe M.2 and/or 2.5" SATA). I installed two HyperX 16GB DDR4-2666 CL15 SODIMM cards, a Samsung970 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB SSD and aCrucial BX500 2.5" SSD for a capable, fast and quiet desktop mini-PC machine.Tried to install Debian 10 Buster distribution but it was problematic and installation failed to boot up. Dropped Deb 10 and went over to Ubuntu.Installed Xubuntu 20.04 LTS operating system without a hitch and was up and running in a short time. Everything works well and so far the NUC10 and Xubuntu 20.04 OS performing well up to expectations.

This is a very small box full of gobbledegoop
It is a small computer, so very small. Why did I buy it? What does it do? I expect it computes things, at least that was why I bought it. Should something this size really cost as much as a old used car? I suspect it has something to do with aliens........woooooooo beep booop
