I have FIVE Shark air filters at home.
Love these. Honestly - the scented wax cassette is a bit of a waste, I wouldn't even worry getting a model that has them. 2 or 3 of the units I have provide this feature but I gave up on using it. I tried the OEM cartridges, I tried aftermarket, I even tried removing the wax and using essential oil sponges in its place. The scent is not strong enough and doesn't last long enough to even bother using. HOWEVER - The machine itself is great and the filtration display/meter DOES work. I can cook something in my kitchen, and watch the air pollution levels from that migrate through my entire house with these machines. The further away the machine is from the kitchen the better the air quality level reads while/after cooking. It's pretty amazing to watch FIVE machines in different rooms all detect and react to the same thing from the stove, oven, or even the air fryer. 4th of July I can see the impact of all the fireworks outside. Had another day every machine was in the yellow for what seemed like no reason - and then found an air quality alert on my cell phone. They all run on the lowest or 2nd lowest speed depending on their size and what room they are in - 24 hours a day. I bought a kill-a-watt meter and determined that they each cost me somewhere around $1.50 or less a month to run continuously at those speeds - which is acceptable to me. Id strongly suggest not buy a single "1400 square foot model" and assuming itll handle the entire house or a level of a home. You won't like hearing the thing running at full speed all the time. You're much better off buying 2 or 3 and just letting them LIVE on a low speed all the time. Refurbs are a great option to do this, but you roll the dice. If you hear it "ticking" on a low speed - just send it back and buy another because that's WHY it was returned and they didn't "refurbish" anything. I have a mix of new and used. I think one refurb was returned and exchanged. Another "refurb" was clearly brand new, never used evident by the sealed packaging and having had other to compare them too. I have 2 large models and 3 smaller ones. At some point you'll see the filter warning light and display turn red. It's just a prompt to check the filter. You can clear these codes easily by just holding the flashing button down for a few seconds to reset it. If that doesn't work and you have a well used unit - locate where the sensor is on your machine and blow some compressed air around it to clean it off. That will probably do the trick. That said - don't expect these machines to perform miracles. If there is something WRONG in the house that's producing an odor - an air filter won't REMOVE the source of that odor. Also - a benefit of having these is I run just a basic dust filter for the HVAC system in the house. Thicker/tighter filters are more air restrictive and using the central air and/or heating system in the house an air purifier too is not something I want to do. I want my HVAC to push as much hot/cold air as possible with as little restriction as possible. So a basic filter to keep the dust out is all I use.

Game Changer
This item changed my life. I thought I was going to have to rehome my rabbits, I was terribly worried. Something in the air was NOT working for me. But this little machine changed all that. This air purifier works so well and is so easy to use that within the next 24 hours my allergies were back to being their normal selves. The value of this is simply too good to be true. Once a year filters? Eco friendly user settings? The noise level is barely that of a fan. It's an amazing machine.

Excellent Air Purifier for Allergen Reduction and Odor Control
I recently purchased the Shark HP232 Clean Sense Air Purifier MAX, and so far, it has been a great addition to my home. The purifier has proven to be effective in detecting and reducing allergens and odors. For example, it immediately kicks into high gear when there's smoke from cooking or when I open the door to my brother's room after it has been closed all day. It's clear that this purifier is actively working to improve the air quality by picking up allergens, and the added air freshener feature is a nice touch that makes my living room smell fresher. Setting up the Shark HP232 was a breeze. The process was incredibly straightforward, taking me no more than five minutes to complete. The manual provided was easy to read and follow, making the entire setup process seamless. One minor issue I've noticed is the noise level when the air quality drops below 70%. It sounds similar to a standard box fan—not overly loud, but noticeable enough. Given that this is part and parcel of maintaining air quality, it’s a small trade-off for the benefits it provides. My apartment is relatively small, so the air purifier might be overkill for my space, but it effectively covers the entire home. I was surprised by the size of the unit—it was much bigger than I anticipated. I didn’t pay close attention to the dimensions and had to find a new spot for it, but it ultimately worked out well. The size does not detract from its functionality, as it seems to be doing an excellent job. I purchased this air purifier because I care for my older brother, who has asthma, and we have a short-haired dog whose dander I suspected was exacerbating his condition. While it's still early to tell if it has made a significant impact on his asthma, I've noticed a decrease in dust accumulation. Our weekly cleaner has also remarked on the reduction of dust, which is a positive sign. Overall, the Shark HP232 Clean Sense Air Purifier MAX has been a worthwhile investment for maintaining better air quality in my home. It effectively reduces allergens and odors, making it an excellent choice for anyone with similar needs.

Great Machine but make sure all parts are in package
This purifier works really well. I had a smaller one for a few years and decided to upgrade. I keep it on auto mode and you can tell is works when you cook it signals poor air quality, it then powers ups to clean the air and with time goes back to 100. Now the CON is that my package did not contain the neutralizer cartridge and I didn’t notice past the return date. So make sure all the parts are there.

Small but mighty.
This is a very intuitive air purifier. When I am cooking it senses the change in the air and kicks the fan on higher, greatly reducing the smell of food in my home. After many months I had no complaints. However, the last time I purchased a new air filter the price was significantly higher. Ouch! I wish I had purchased the Shark with a filter I could clean.
