When a weird looking light (quite scary!) sensor light became lit on the dashboard of my BMW X3, I was worried as to what could be wrong. I pulled out the owners manual and knew that there was something wrong with brake pads and it was the brake pad sensor light. I started shopping around for getting the brake pads, rotors and sensor cable replaced. Dealer quoted me $1200 + tax for parts & labor for front and rear brakes. the cheapest independent mechanic shop quoted me about $750 (part, labor, tax) for front and rear. But then I looked online to see if I could order the parts myself. At first, I was skeptical about buying auto parts online, however, knowing Amazon's reputation for excellent customer service their commitment to stand by the products they sell, I didn't think twice before buying these brake pads from Amazon. I would have been a bit careful to buy them from any other online retailer. I am very happy I did order 2 sets of brake pads (1 set of 4 pads in the box each for front/rear), 4 rotors (2 each for front and rear) and 2 sensor cables (1 each for front/rear) from Amazon and got them installed for $250 even from independent mechanic. Its over a month and I have no complains. At first the pedal feel was a little soft compared to original OEM brakes before replacing. But now that the its been over a month, I think they perform at their best even better than the OEM brakes.The only problem I had was that when I ordered them first, I received the pads which seemed like they were used once and did not look brand new. Even as I opened the box (not the outside shipping box which was nicely packed), it seemed like the brake pads were all over the place within the box inside.But a quick call to Amazon customer service fixed it right away. Amazon shipped a new set of pad via overnight. Very happy with the replacement pads and Amazon's customer service. Bottom line.....if you need replacement brakes and don't want to spend fortune at the dealership, buy these ...you won't regret it!

These pads were exactly what i needed. Mid range pricing, but a quality product as expected from Akebono.Out of the box, they look very high quality. The finish is very good, and the tapering on the pad material is perfect. It comes with some anti-squeak stuff that i didnt use as i had some in the shop. They come ready to install, no sanding the edges or prep is necessary of the pad material. They fit perfectly and install was a breeze.I've been driving with them for a while on the rear of my X5. The are working great, stopping power is excellent and not a hint of any noise. I replaced my rotors at the same time, so results might vary, but if you install properly, there is no reason you wouldnt be completely satisfied.I'd recommend them today, but of course time will tell how long they last. That will be partly a factor in any future purchase.

Replaced the old set of aging Akebono pads that started making noise when backing up in my 330ci BMW. New pads installation was a breeze. Used a new copper antisieze paste and dielectric grease to lube the guide puns. Noise is gone, brakes are working great. Dust level is minimal. Very much recommend.

This was used on my wife's BMW X3. I felt the pedal feel was a little less, but my wife didn't think so. For me, I think the slightly softer feel was better than the factory ones that had a race car feel (too touchy AND way too much dust). Wish I replaced with these years ago, prior to the pads actually needing replacement. Again, better peddle feel, quieter braking, and that annoying dust is gone (factory pads left the wheels filthy in 1 week, and hard to clean). Only negative comment is the fitting of the pad sensor, but this may have to do more with the sensor (used the original ones). The sensors didn't come off too easy from the old pads and did not lock into the new pads, so I used a quick setting epoxy to secure them. Excellent price through Amazon. If you have brakes that are sooting up your wheels, don't wait any longer, just buy these (quieter, smoother, CLEANER).

Good product and very popular. I caution anybody using these to be careful during the break in period. These pads take a very long time to bed-in. I actually "creeped" into the back of a van at a stop light. Lack of braking power and very little bite until they are broken in and married to the new rotors. If I had to guess it was over a month and 1000 miles till they were fully effective and I pounded on them properly during the bedding in process.Low dust is great. It's very difficult to have low dust and the same OE feel and cold bite. I don't care much for the feel of these pads. The OE material BMW uses feels great and is easy to modulate. However, on a street car, the longevity and lack of dust make up for the lack of feel.

Excellent pads, no squeals, very little dust, definitely less than stock. Used on 08 X3. Grease it up with CRC and you're good to go.**UPDATE**I checked these brakes after 15000 miles thinking I might need to replace them since I drive like a maniac and I couldn't believe that they were only maybe 1/8th of an inch gone. These are by far the best quality pads your money can buy and frankly there's no reason to pay more for pads.

This brake pad set fit perfectly onto my wife's BMW x3. Followed some online instructions to ensure I was doing everything as seemless as possible. Saved a bundle of money vs having it done at a shop and the car stops even better than the previous pads that were on it. These have removed the "grab" the car had before and assist in avoiding a hard brake when it isn't required.
