Amazing Smart Gym
DISCLAIMER: I'm not affiliated with Speediance in any way, nor am I being paid for this review. After two months of owning the machine and working out every single day, I wanted to give an in-depth overview of my experience as this has honestly been the best purchase for my health I've ever made and so far has exceeded all expectations. IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE, BUY THIS MACHINE IF YOU ARE ON THE FENCE! FITNESS HISTORY: I'll be 40 this year, and have been in and out of every gym imaginable over the past 15 years. I've primarily worked out with free weights the entire time, with a few months of Orange Theory, Crossfit, F45 thrown in. Although I'm fairly fit and active, consistency has always been an issue for me. I'll go 12-18 months getting in amazing shape, take a 2 week vacation or get sick, then go 6 months sliding backwards until I repeat the cycle all over again. ALTERNATIVES: Before purchasing the Speediance, I was dead set on getting a Tonal after trying one out in a local mall. Unfortunately since I live in a Condo, I couldn't risk the noise that travels through the walls which IS a major issue if you research the Facebook / Reddit groups that talk about this. With that in mind, I was debating between Speediance, Vitruvian, and Oxefit as free standing solution. I chose Speediance since it was extremely compact compared to the Oxefit (which shouldn't be a part of any home gym unless you have a huge house), and the Vitruvian only allowed for exercises from the floor (the stand accessory was canceled last year due to lack of demand). POSITIVES: The Speediance honestly blew me away when I first received it and the build quality is much better than I was expecting after reading some complaints on the FB groups & Reddit. • Size: The Speediance is extremely compact and looks amazing next to my Peleton. It literally takes up around the same amount of floor space as my Powerblock Dumbbell stand. If you live in an apartment or condo, you can put this thing nearly anywhere and barely notice it once the platform is up. • Price / Subscription: I'm lucky enough in my career where price wasn't a determining factor in deciding between which smart gym to purchase. With that said, Speediance can't be beat if you purchase now with the free lifetime subscription, and there's no world where I could ever recommend purchasing a tonal at 2x the upfront cost + $750/yr in subscription fees. It honestly feels like a steal. • Cables vs Free Weights: I've done a lot of barbell/dumbell work in my day, but honestly rarely use cable machines outside of facepulls / lat pulldowns / tricep work. I was expecting this to feel like a Bowflex which is my only real experience with cable resistance, but it's nothing like that. The best way to explain it as it's like free weights on steroids and you can feel all the stabilizer muscles working. Bench presses, squats, deadlifts etc all feel much better to me than traditional free weights. • 220lb Resistance: I'm not a powerlifter or a large guy, but am strong for my size (5'7). My 1RM for barbell work is 180lb Bench, 220lb Squat, 240lb Deadlift. Originally I was worried that I would max out this machine fairly quickly for certain movements, but the cable resistance has humbled me. When I did my first strength assessment each lift was easily 25%+ less than what I can do with free weights, aka unless you are a huge power lifter you aren't going to max out this machine. • Variety of Movements: With free weights I will normally stick to the standard compound lifts and the accessory exercises I've always known. The huge array of different movements built into the software + instructions on how to perform them has really opened my eyes on how much I was limiting myself. Workouts are never boring now, and I think this is one of the biggest things motivating me to use this every day. • Screen Tilt: This is absolutely huge and allows you to look at the screen for almost every movement. IE when I do a bench press, I can tilt the screen 90 degrees and see every rep, power, etc. This is a small thing, but makes a big difference when working out which no other machine does to my knowledge. CONS: There's truly very few cons I've found with the Speediance. • Accessories: This is honestly the only area where Speediance feels "cheap", and I'm a little baffled at what they try to sell some of the accessories for (IE Handles). I'm including a section on all my top recommended third-party accessories I recommend, and a few accessories I think you should buy through Speediance. • Cable Burn: Without the cable extenders, some exercises will give you major cable burn causing you to never do them. Again, this is solvable with the Cable Extender accessory… INCLUDE IT WITH EVERY PURCHASE. TLDR; I had much more to say but I’ve hit the character limit for a review. Buy the machine!

Great product, great company.
I have had my Gym Monster nearly a year and I love it. I love how compact, easy to use and versatile it is. This is the only piece of equipment you need. But beyond that the company is amazing. Every time I've reached out with questions or suggestions they have been incredibly receptive. Sincerely thanking me for taking the time to message them and they have even implemented suggestions I made promptly. They really do listen and care. And in the time I've had the machine, it has had so many significant updates to the software that I almost feel guilty that I'm getting them for free. Most recently they added heart rate monitor connectivity that works beautifully. There is still a little room for improvement regarding the AI usage and predictive fatigue... but at the rate they constantly improving I have no doubt they'll get to it. And I love that they do not require a monthly subscription and still provide such high quality programming making it much easier to justify the upfront cost.

Great machine from a long time gym member!
I purchased the Gym Monster (GM 1) almost 6 months ago and I have been incredibly pleased with the product and its versatility. As a long time gym goer, I am impressed with the machine's ability to adapt to all workouts, with significant weight capacity, up to 220 lbs. (And in fact if feels heavier than lifting regular weights due to the electronic pulley resistance / technology.) The machine is easy to set up - it basically works straight out of the box, and it's pretty intuitive with the various workouts and movements. There are a ton of workouts and programs available from beginner level to more advanced types of movements and courses. What's even more exciting is the community around the machine where some users can upload their custom workouts for all members to use. So you will find hundreds of movements and workouts available for the various muscle groups. And even better is the community on Facebook where a lot of users can help with technical troubleshooting and/or offer advice for weightlifting as necessary. (Reddit as well, but Facebook has more audience in my opinion.) The AI aspect (software) is pretty powerful and automatically adjusts the weight for my intensity, and in a recent software update, it offers programs and workouts to fit my specific goals. It will also adapt to my daily/weekly workout routine and suggest different workouts and programs based on my muscle fatigue. I think it's pretty cool! Overall it's a great, smart, at-home gym that rivals a real gym workout experience, and in my opinion, better than a lot of other competing products in the market.

Five Star Product, One Star Delivery from Amazon's Delivery Service - A 50's year old's review
I've been using this for 7 weeks as of this writing. The Speediance resistance machine and the workouts they offer are spectacular. Unfortunately, the size of the product appears just too difficult for Amazon and its last-mile service. I'd recommend buying directly from Speediance instead of Amazon. The Product: I compare this to years of free weight lifting (high school, college, and into my 30's); then a few years using single purpose, rigid machines at a gym, then a couple years using a universal cable / pulley machine at home. The rigid machines were the worst because they limited range of motion and sometimes caused stress or minor injury. Free weights have the most range, but the cable systems offer more than enough resistance and range of motion to give a great workout without that type of injury. The Speediance's advantages over the traditional cable machine are (1) small form factor, (2) ease of setup and moving to different locations after setup, and (3) great integrated display with tons of well-designed workouts. I bought it for the form factor but have been really impressed by the quality of included workouts. One of the signs that they really focus on the workout is that they include appropriate muscle stretches for a few minutes at the beginning and end. Also, they'll throw in planks, sit ups, and other exercises that don't require the machine because they seem to focus on quality of the workout, not just the machine. The machine's resistance for lifting is great! To me, it "feels" heavier than the weight I select, so I workout with lower numbers than I might at the gym with free weights. The bluetooth ring they supply to activate, deactivate and change the weight is really convenient and easy to use -- allowing for quick adjustments to the amount of weight and to release the weight if you "hit the wall." For that and many reasons, the workouts on this seem so efficient because transitioning from one exercise to another is very, very easy and quick. Notably, the workouts are really well designed to provide a full (or targeted) workout, efficiently. I'd recommend starting with the four-week full-body beginner's plan if you, like me, hadn't been working out for a while before receiving this. it has stretching, warm-ups, and great exercises 3 days per week, and I felt that I'd safely built some strength to tackle more vigorous exercises after completing it. Definitely had some soreness, but built strength and focuses on good form and learning the machine while building a base of strength. If you're not getting back into weight training after a long absences, like me, there are tons of intermediate and advanced programs to try ... along with free form lifting or creating your own programs. You can do strength assessments with this, which will then populate the exercises with a suggested amount of weight based on your strength. There are actually many other reasons I've loved this, but it's time for the Delivery problems. Without going into too many details, I will give a suggestion to make your delivery better than mine. As mentioned above, just buy directly from Speediance. If that's not an option, suffice it to say I lost two days (4 hours each) waiting for the delivery and spent many hours on the phone. Amazon support seemed like they could help, but they didn't. NSD, the delivery company lied about not having it in their warehouse, about having tried to contact me, about the missed days being Amazon's fault. Seems they lie to satisfy Amazon's metrics and don't care about the person or the delivery. If you decide to take the chance of ordering via Amazon instead of directly from Speediance, please begin checking your order status regularly to see when it arrives at the local warehouse and has been assigned a tracking number -- within Amazon's system. As soon as that happens, you'll need to call them (NSD) directly to schedule your delivery (even though Amazon's and their websites will show the delivery date you selected upon purchase.) Call and schedule! Otherwise, they'll miss your first delivery and claim they tried to call you but couldn't reach you. Mine was a week late and could have been much closer to on t-me since it arrived to their warehouse about 4 days before my scheduled delivery date. Just call and reschedule with them as soon as it hits the warehouse and has a tracking number. Good luck!

5-stars for Gym Monster, 3-stars for buying experience
Love my Speediance Gym Monster! I received my Speediance Gym Monster about two weeks ago. I had been on the fence about buying it for a while, but am so happy with my decision to purchase it. The unit arrived extremely well-packaged and secure. Despite the box being very large, I was able to get the unit out with only a little assistance from my wife. As advertised, it was ready to use right out of the box. Here are some of the features that I’ve been enjoying most since I began using it: • The assortment of training programs. I have been a member of several gyms in the past. One of my challenges has always been finding a good routine to follow. With so many choices in a gym, I’ve easily gotten overwhelmed by my choices. So, I would basically “graze” in the gym – I’d wander from one machine to another with no direction of what to do. I wasn’t the best at recording my workouts, either, so I rarely knew what I had done in prior workouts to see if I had made any improvements. The assortment of training programs that are embedded in the Speediance ecosystem, eliminated this obstacle. There are plenty of workout programs to choose from and each tells me what I need to do and which days I need to do it. Some programs range from 3x per week to daily. The choice is mine. I also love that I don’t have to worry about whether the weight is right for me or not. I did a preassessment of my strengths, and Speediance’s AI Coach made recommendations on how much weight is appropriate for me. It’s not always 100% on the nose. There have been some exercises that start me off way too heavy for my current fitness level. But in those instances, I can just make a quick adjustment on the fly to the weight and I’m ready to go. • The spotter function has been exceptional. Challenging myself with heavier weights at home can be challenging. With the spotter function, I feel safe and confident in pushing and increasing my limits because I know that the machine will automatically lighten the resistance if it feels that I am struggling. It has two settings of assistance, also, so I can adjust when I want the AI to jump in to help me. Having the ability to adjust the weight on the fly allows me to maintain focus on completing my sets and challenges me in a meaningful way. • The Gym Monster is not an inexpensive unit, but it's nice not to have additional monthly subscription fees to worry about. I received a lifetime membership with my purchase. I've read that at some point in the future Speediance may move to a subscription program, but I haven't experienced that. I hope that they keep the included lifetime membership in the future as it is a big differentiator from other competitors like Tonal. Now the buying through Amazon experience. I had read that some people had poor experiences purchasing their units through Amazon. I read often that people didn't receive the benches that should have been included with their packages. I decided to roll the dice in the hopes that I would not have that experience, but unfortunately, it wasn't the best buying experience. Ordering through Amazon was easy. I purchased the Family package which includes a standard flat bench plus the rowing bench. I scheduled a delivery date and time, and those too went fine. The main unit was handled professionally by the delivery drivers and they placed the box in the front of our home. However, as I began unboxing everything I realized that they hadn't included my rowing bench as advertised. It wasn't a frustrating experience, just disappointing. I called Amazon to explain my situation and to see if they could ship me the rowing unit separately. The Amazon reps I spoke with were both top-notch, very understanding, and kind, and they did try to find a solution for me. Unfortunately, though, they were unable to resolve the matter. The only solution they came up with was to return the original unit and reorder another so that it would ship again, hopefully with the correct pieces this time. I opted not to go this route. I reached out via email directly to Speediance's customer service team. Communication was via email since I didn't find any phone number to contact them. Thankfully, the Speediance customer service team responded to my email inquiry within 24 hours and they were very understanding and apologetic for the inconvenience. They offered to speak with their Amazon counterparts to confirm my order. They were able to arrange for a rowing bench to be sent to me, which I received about a week after the original unit was delivered. I have nothing but good things to say about Speediance's customer service. In summary, wholeheartedly recommend purchasing a Gym Monster if you're looking for a good at-home smart gym. Very pleased with my decision!

awesome piece of equipment, best in its class for the price in my opinin
ive had many home gym setups in my days. I was skeptical about these new electric motor, computerized gyms, but that seems to be the future, so I decided on this one because its about the lowest price of these types of home gyms, plus NO membership fees are required like Tonal and others. Space was a huge consederation for me, and this thing takes up very little space, and folds up nicely out of the way. The box is huge and heavy, so it may take some effort getting it in the house. Once it is unpacked it can be moved easy on its wheels. Unboxing is a pain, but theres hardly any assembly required other than the bench. Storing the box and packaging material is NOT easy, and GOOD LUCK re-packing it if you have to send it back!- I HIGHLY reccomend ordering through Amazon Prime AND get the warranty/product protection to avoid hassles. It is deliverd through 3rd party freight companies no matter where you buy it from, so the delivery service process will most likely lead to some rough handling during its journey. Mine came with the box somewhat beat up and had a minor part broken that didnt affect its functionality, BUT Amazon was VERY gracious on making it right from just a quick chat session without having to send it back. Doubt I would have got it handled that easy if I would have ordered it elsewhere. Prime does have its advantages sometimes! The machine has so many features, workout routines already programmed, you can customize your own routines, or just go into free mode and do your own thing. Keeps track of alot of stats and tracking to keep you motivated. Can do tons of excerises. The basic bench is quite puny but does its thing. i ordered another bench from temu that has incline/decline and a little more wider, and ALOT cheaper than the upgraded bench for this. Biggest dissapointment- the built in music. Its cheezy. The only other music option built-in is through apple which I dont have. But thats a minor ssue, i just use my cheap mp3 player and earphones and Im fine. I have had for a little over 4 months and Ive lost 15 lbs and seen a great deal of strength and toning with just a 3 day a week routine. Have had no mechanical/electical issuses with this machine so far. Time will tell. It is great for most anybody, unless you are into serious body bulding wanting to get huge- it just doesnt have the resistance for that as it only goes to 220 lbs, but none of these types of machines do. In my opinion the Gym Monster 1 basic package is the best option- the greatly added price for the Gym Monster 2 is NOT worth it. some accessories you can find cheaper and can make them work as well.

An awesome home gym, that lets a core part of the user control drag everything down
The speediance gym monster is a great piece of equipment for a home gym. But it's held back by the control ring severely. Ill start with the things it does well. Its a great home gym machine, especially if you dont have very much space for equipment. It folds away when you dont need it, its quiet, has a large variety of decent workout programs, and it provides great resistance to help you train. It comes pre assembled, and is large which can make it a bit difficult to move down stairs it shouldn't need to be moved often once its in place, so that isnt a big issue but you'll need a second person to get it into place. The one, giant issue i have with it? The control ring. It sits on your finger and you tap it to start or stop the machine, and twist the knob to the sides to adjust weight. It just... Doesnt work. I have average sized fingers for a man, but the loop is so tight even on it's loosest position that it cuts off some circulation to my finger, its awkward to press, and when you press it it often registers as a twist instead, which could be dangerous jf the machine overloaded you and you need to drop the weight quickly. I would even go so far as to say that this poorly thought out control scheme is a safety hazard, its ridiculous that it made it through product testing. If the ring wasnt so poorly implemented, this would easily be a 5 star machine, it's really too bad that they're letting a core piece of the user experience exist in such a poor state. Outside of that... It would be nice to have more music options, and to be able to connect my pixel watch to the machine so it could read my heartrate.

I'm very impressed ... and I hardly write reviews
First off, let me just say that I've been in the market for gym equipment ever since I bought my home last year. Like most people, I'm certain, it is quite easy for me to get overwhelmed with the many options for dumbbells, squat racks, benches, etc., not really reaching a conclusion on what I ultimately need to cover the range of workouts and movements that I had been wanting for my home setup. The Speediance Gym Monster honestly is one of the best (large) purchases that I've made that gives quite the bang for your buck. Is the software and user-interface perfect? No, but it is sufficient and more than what I originally expected. The guided workouts are fantastic, and the workout programs can be scheduled so you won't have to spend a great deal of time trying to figure out which chest, leg, or whatever workout you're doing for a particular day. Having the structure built in for programs means all I have to do is show up. The Bluetooth "spotter" device is pretty good, but just make sure you keep it charged. There have been a few times that the wheel to adjust the weight doesn't respond, but it seems that it's pretty responsive if you just charge it via the USB-C cable provided. It's worth mentioning that while this device doesn't require you to mount it to a wall, the caveat is that this is a heavy boy and let me tell ya ... if you plan on carrying this thing up a flight of stairs, you'll definitely need help and don't plan on working out that day either because you'll get a good workout trying to lift it. But once you get it where it needs to live, it does have wheels so it's fairly easy to maneuver. The screen is large, resolution is great, and it has very good touch responsiveness. The build quality is superb, and it doesn't feel as if anything is lacking in the quality control department; this thing feels sturdy and not cheap at all. I've done a pretty wide range of workouts so far, and the trainers definitely will get you sweating and I'm writing this review with sore legs from a workout that whooped my behind. I think this is a great all-in-one solution if you're wanting to do some lifting and have limited space or not wanting to buy a plethora of equipment. Time will tell how long things will hold up, but I have reason to believe that it'll last a good while, and I don't have any sense of buyer's remorse at all with it. Though it's not strictly speaking cheap, I do think it is one of the most competitively priced machines in its sector.
