Useful for kids in upper elementary and middle school.

Fairly simple definitions, derivations mostly ok, sometimes not enough data

Very simple w/ very basic derivations, yet more advanced than a children's dictionary. It doesn't always have the more advanced or esoteric definitions, which is why I'd say it's great for kids and young adults. I use this along with the Oxford Concise dictionary, Encarta, or the Longman's when I can't find the definition that fits the context.

Actually I went to Amazon to buy the dictionary for my brother, but I took a look at it.It looks very well designed inside - much better than I am used to seeing. And I likedthe definitions, and the derivations ... all in all, quite a nice dictionary and it will probablyend up being a preferred dictionary.

An excellent small dictionary for those with a limited vocabulary. The real bonus is the fact that nearly every word has a derivation or word origin which is essential to fully clearing a word to full understanding. The definitions themselves are clear and concise and do no complicate getting straight to the definition without extras.

Bought mine from BookFactoryUK and they did a fabulous job with the packaging, it was very well protected. I had bought another one from a different seller and it arrived in very thin plastic bag packaging and unfortunately looked like it had gotten beat up on the way over. Thank you!

Once you decide to learn/teach from the recognized source of the English language, Oxford becomes the obvious dictionary of choice. A detail to remember though is that this is a true English Dictionary and not an American Dictionary. American usage can occasionally differ, especially slang. Still, I use Oxford as the true source.

I love this little dictionary. Makes it easy to look up words without having to many definitions.

Great size. Great standard of word and very easy to navigate with the wee coloured tips on the page. Oxford know dictionaries. Very very good item.

Its good but according to my 8 year old son, it misses some words when he tries to search them in it.But nevertheless a good starting point for kids.
