I’ve always found any style issues by the brand to be heavy, stiff, and frankly bland in design when compared to other products of under the same manufacturer. These look different than doc martens, are 1000% more comfortable, lightweight (attractive, subjective). What a person may lose in making the shoe pan-functional, pays off in spades as it nails the job the style name claims it be. Very pleasantly surprised.

He's a boot guy all year round and he has never had a pair of doc's.

I really like these boots but they were big on me ( I always wear a size 6 in Doc’s) and this pair of Doc Martens felt at least a half size too big and they felt wide. The rest of the boot is great, the color, the fabric, the look and the wrap around strap on the top can be worn on or taken off. Too bad I’ll need to return these. If you have a wide feet, these would probably be great boots for you.
