Does protect the lens, but much thicker and heavier to use than the "Storm Jacket" brand (which is far more expensive).With either brand I find it necessary to place heavy duty rubber bands round the lens hood, so the front elastic drawstring has something to 'catch on', or they slide up the lens - exposing the lens front.

I have used this primarily on my canon 6d mkii with sigma 150-600Positives:Easily covers both lens and camera.Works well both hand held and on tripod.I like the open access to the camera viewfinder and screen etc.Kept equipment dry in half days rain.Lightweight and packable.You can access the zoom and focus rings through the velcro.Negative:Zoom and focus is by no means a smooth operation.You can use on shorter lenses but you'll need to fold and this makes zooming a little more awkward.I'd definately recommend for those who want to photograph it wet weather.

Very comforting to have in back pack on a dodger weather day . Fits well and does the job brilliantly .

Really not impressed with this at all. This is absolutely NOT waterproof. Brand new Tamron 200-600 lens with a 1.4 teleconverter on a new Canon 90D and everything got absolutely soaked. I'm aiming to return this to get a full refund and will but something else. Not worth the risk to use this.

keeps the rain off is a little more fiddly than a neoprene cover for the lens but does help with keeping rain off camera body
