GameSir G7 SE - A Nice Replacement for XBox One Controller on PC
GameSir G7 SE Wired Controller is the object under review here.I was flicking through TikTok in a panic (as you do) when an advert came up for this controller, which reminded me that I had promised myself I'd get a new wired controller for my PC, having been putting up with the wireless XBox version for a year or so.I came to that one from the old (and very much missed) XBox 360 version. Sadly, that one is difficult to find these days. This is by way of letting you know that I have many decades of experience with controllers. Not that you should listen to me in preference to all the other splendid reviewers here. This is just my thruppence worth. So, after watching a chap called Linus (the tech tip guy) compare a whole bunch of controllers, this one (the GameSir G7 SE) was I think the most recommended wired controller. Other influencers on YouTube seemed to think it was pretty good too, so that helped me make my mind up.The influencers were not specific about the colour, but one reviewer did say the thing was only available in white. No, no, no. At least here in the UK I had a wide choice, settling on the lovely baby blue one (just to avoid confusion with the original XBox One device, which was black).I was pleased to see that the controller came with a cable which was also a similar shade of blue, albeit slightly lighter in tone. Probably something to do with the braided texture rather than any failure of Pantone blending in either the design or the manufacturing phase. The cable is a good length too (someone mentioned ten feet, but I didn't measure it), allowing me to snake it under my monitor and behind the computer table into a nice USB port on the back of my PC.In my hands the GameSir G7 SE seemed rather smaller than the XBox One controller, a fact confirmed by a close comparison. The textured undersides of both are different too, with the XBox controller having a rather more refined texture that feels better to me.The GameSir G7 SE is lighter even than the empty XBox One controller - a positive boon if you are sensitive to weight in that way. I'm not, but I might be after a marathon session of No Man's Sky.The analogue sticks feel good, not better than the XBox One device, but perfectly serviceable, and of course they have some kind of magic going on that makes the GameSir G7 SE operate without contact points, so that should mean a long life - at least for those parts. All the buttons and triggers are nice, but the menu buttons are in an entirely different place, meaning that in my gameplay tests I was hitting blank plastic for the first few minutes. Not a problem. Even my old brain will adapt eventually. There are two "extra" buttons, or paddles on the UNDERSIDE the GameSir G7 SE, which both have little switches to lock them. I cannot imagine ever using them, but they are there and they don't really affect the feel of the thing.GameSir is very keen for us to download their app, which connects to the GameSir G7 SE controller and allows you to create profiles. I have no use for that. I can barely manage the games I play as it is without getting confused by managing profiles! But some of you may love this idea.It looks as though the front fascia of the GameSir G7 SE can be removed. I don't know why anyone would want to, and I haven't tried it myself. Well, that's not true. I did give it a tug (there's a small and very inviting indent on the front which cries out to be fiddled with) but I gave up for fear of breaking it. But again, some of you might have better luck.I did think for a moment that the dead zones of both sticks were a little extreme, but I did a quick comparison with the old XBox One controller and it was exactly the same! Neat! All in all, a nice wee controller in a variety of colours with a few extra buttons and a long wire of a matching shade.

Fantastic PC controller—lightweight, responsive, and easy to tune
I bought this primarily for PC gaming, and it has been an absolute pleasure to use.The controller has a lovely feel in the hands—very comfortable ergonomics, nice texture, and it’s noticeably lightweight, making long gaming sessions completely fatigue-free.Configuring it through the software was super straightforward, and bumping up to the high polling rate was painless. The responsiveness in-game is brilliant with essentially zero perceived input lag.Another nice bonus is the included braided cable; it’s plenty long enough to reach from the back of my PC to my desk with plenty of slack to spare. For the price, performance, and features, I really can’t complain. Easily one of the best wired controllers you can get for PC. Highly recommended!

What can one say, the difference is like comparing night and day!
Considering I've been playing (suffering from arthritic finger fatigue) trying to be as accurate and precise as possible with my current ancient 'copycat' X-Box wired gamepad. Tearing around the latest IOM TT3 courses by comparison, was literally like trying to steer a blindfolded elephant with a banana! It went like this: My phone woke me up at 8am to notifying me that my package had been placed by my front door, not bad seeing 1PM was the deadline! I skipped the usual loo-run and ventured barefoot downstairs, avoiding the minefield of strategically placed Lego bricks and made haste to the draw bridge, where, my finger saviour awaited collection. My hopes and dreams of becoming the next TT super bike champion was finally within my reach!Sop I grabbed the package, darted back upstairs, narrowly avoid the carefully placed booby-traps and sprinted to the loo, emptied, while quickly flicking through the user guide and usual recycleable box-fillers and ta-da there 'she' was!She was staring back at me, nestled looking very comfortable, snug inside her lightweight transparent armour, I couldn't wait to get my deft shovel-like hands on her, to deflower and abuse that exquisitely-made innocent 'thing' that lay in my eager quivering nervous mitts! It (she) felt so smooth with a slightly bumpy texture, like that of recently tickled skin, she felt cool to the touch, anxious to get plugged and show me what she's capable of and I have to say, that was the quickest I ever flew downstairs to my awaiting pre-warmed PC!I had no choice by then, I was committed to my cause. So I gently inserted one end into her and the other gingerly into an available USB port. The rest is poetic history!Pro's: Great feel to it, even in my big hands all buttons are naturally within finger reach, muscle memory from my previous gamepad meant, no learning curve was required to just pick it up and crack on with the gameplay. The hall-effect precision one gets with this technology, runs rings around conventional mechanical controllers. PERIOD!Con's: Of course, There is the fact that it's connected via a white woven umbilical cord to it's mother, but I was aware of that when I ordered it/her and to be honest, if sat playing with her all day, a lithium powered toy would no doubt be of a major concern, within about a year or so. So prudent was my decision to go with a variant on a leash. Conclusion: I think this aspect of the review is by now somewhat self-evident!YES! I like it a lot and yes I would highly recommend the GameSir G7 SE controller to anyone looking to seriously 'up' their gaming performance, making this (at least in my opinion) the perfect tool for the job! 😉The 'game' deserves nothing less than the best you can give it. 👍

Great controller but one minor gripe
Great controller. Build quality is nice, buttons and Hall effect sticks and triggers are wonderful and feels far better than a standard Xbox controller. The software is also really good for customising. There is one thing holding it back from a full 5 stars and that’s the usb-c input on the controller. Do be aware, if you plan on getting your own cable then pay close attention and do some research as I have tried 3 very well made and highly rated cables and none worked and took me a while to figure out that the cable that comes with the controller firstly, has a very narrow usb-c casing which you can easily find but anything longer than 10ft / 3m won’t work due to the controller having Hall effect sticks it’s just the max length for it to work correctly and that’s not the manufacturers fault it’s just how it is so keep this in mind if you want something longer. If they solve that, it would be a full 5 stars as even the trigger and handle rumble feels a tad better than the original controller and it has made a massive difference to my enjoyment and level in some games.*small update (11/07/2025) - the D pad has become a little unresponsive, at times not registering an input and I don’t use the D pad very much apart from in menus mainly so it’s a little disappointing but the controller is still very much worth it. Hopefully I just have a bad sample.

Could've been great, let down by poor CS and QC
I really, really wanted to love this controller. I was extremely annoyed when my original Xbox controller developed very annoying stick drift at less than 6 months old with only casual usage. Not wanting to put any more money into Microsofts pockets, and only to have this happen again I searched for alternatives. This Gamesir G7 SE seemed very well regarded in the community and reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so I placed my order.I plugged in the controller, downloaded the recommended app on the Xbox and got playing. Initially I was amazed with the controller. The accuracy and feel of the joysticks and triggers was far superior to the official one.My problems began 2 days later. The right trigger started to feel a bit notchy half way through its travel. When you try to go for Customer support through amazon on this product, it redirects you to Gamesir's website. No problem, so I sent the customer service team an email. The level of English comprehension from the team was very poor, so describing the issue was far more difficult than it needed to be. Eventually the representative sent me a link to buy some anti friction rings for the joysticks, not sure what this would've achieved! Eventually the team just told me to deal with the issue or return it.At first I thought I could put up with it, so I persisted. The issue has developed into the trigger making a pinging sound at the top and bottom of it's travel, and now when the trigger vibration activates it makes a horrible vibration sound, as if all of the foam dampening has gone.Really disappointing, as stated in the description this could've been a great product. If you're luckier from a quality control standpoint you may get an excellent controller that serves you well. On the other hand, I wouldn't buy another product from this company regardless of how good it was, because I know what awaits me if I ever have to deal with their customer service department again.
