Quality radiator paint
After decorating a bedroom the radiator looked awful . Bought a can of this now looks like new. I painted it in the summer , so drying time good. Good value for money .

A cheap way to brighten up old radiators
If you have a choice like I did, do you buy a new radiator, or make the best of what you've got already? I chose the latter, and I've been really pleased. The radiator was off the wall whilst plastering took place, and I'd say that made a big difference. Whilst this paint creates a lovely brilliant white finish, it also shows every single brush stroke and therefore you really have to keep just the right pressure and direction on your brush. I did two coats, mostly as the radiator was very yellowed (the coverage is good, but if the radiator is older, two coats will likely be required), but also because my first coat wasn't the neatest and this paint isn't very forgiving! It has a light smell to it, nothing a regular hammerite user won't be accustomed to, but I'd always recommend well ventilating the room, or taking the radiator outside like I did (I know that's not always possible or required!) Overall, good product, nice finish, but be patient as it requires concentration and a steady hand :)

Paint is thin
Bought to paint the radiator, have used it before, and I find it works well. Is thin paint so have to watch out for drips. Nice white colour and drys fairly quickly

Cleaned up an old tired radiator
Used this on a discoloured radiator (which hadn't gone rusty), sanded it lightly then applied paint. It feels quite sticky on the first coat to apply (almost dragging the paint / resistance). The second coat as with other Hammerite metal paints I've used, went on easier and smoothly. You need to apply it fairly thinly to avoid runs, but as it takes a little time to dry any runs can be addressed before it does dry. The paint brush marks are evident when painting the radiator but disappeared once dry. It does smell quite strong but this went within a couple of days. Very pleased with the result - an old radiator looking clean and fresh.

Covers in one coat
Very happy with this product and the price as well. Wasn’t expecting to get away with one coat as my radiators were quite discoloured but they only needed the one so the tin worked out to be quite economical as after 4 radiators I’ve still got half the tin left. The shine from the gloss white makes them look like new. Only downside was the smell even though I had all doors and windows open while painting but the old trick of putting raw onions next to them worked a treat so all was good. Highly recommended.

Does the job!
It turns out that even if you think your radiators are white when you use this stuff you realise that they weren't really! It is a runny product (it's water-based so this is to be expected) so make sure that you have something under the radiator to catch the drips! For us, the 500ml covered 4 large (normal-sized) radiators each with 3 coats - and you will need 3 coats. It is a little pricey but I think that it does a really good job. Stinks (as you would imagine) so keep your house ventilated during application and open your windows. It takes about 6 hours I think for it to dry properly but best leave it overnight before returning any furniture against it. Warning - it is a nightmare getting it out of paintbrushes so make sure to use one that you don't mind throwing away afterwards (or get better quality ones than we had!)
