Athgar and Natalia travel to Carlingen
On their way home, Athgar and Natalia travel through the Kingdom of Carligen. They help the King to stop an overthrow of his kingdom by the family and disgruntled lords. As always, Paul Bennett writes a fast paced book that is a joy to read.

A great continuation of Natalia and Athgar’s story!
Having read all the previous books in this series, I was anxious to get the next volume, and I was not disappointed! The excellent and consistent world building and characterization through the series, also connecting with the Heir to the Crown series, make this a very enjoyable read. Palace intrigue, plots and action mixed with a little magic makes it that much more interesting. Taking place in “the armpit of the Petty Kingdoms,” a former noble with an axe to grind tries to take on the perceived weakness of a new king. Will he succeed in planting terror and doubt? Enjoy.

The Sisters and Natalia working for good in Carlingen
Natalia and Athgar visit Carlingen and find they are dragged in again to the treachery of the family’s efforts to bring about chaos in the region. Natalia works on the newest Queen of Carlingen to help her to realize that the intentions of the Family are not the best for her kingdom. And the Cunars show up again as a force working with the Family to re-establish their dominance over the Continent.Throw in an ambitious Prince from a neighboring kingdom and you have another delightful story from Mr Bennett that is a delight to read. This a a great edition and weaving of the Sister’s actions into the greater Therengian storyline.

Once again the family is up to no good. Will Natalia, Athgar and friends be able to help? Buy the book and see, you won't regret it.

Who is more powerful?
Natalia and Athgar find chaos in a neighboring nation, while on their way home. Can they help or does it lead to war? Mages are getting more powerful in this interesting, original story with wonderful characters. This unpredictable story starts to bring together different elements from all over this world.

A worthy continuation of the series
I really loved this one! It had a great amount of political intrigue, without being overly complicated. And also quite a lot of adventure. Some new interesting characters were introduced. And the author did a great job of organically embroiling Athgar and Nathalia in a new conflict that developed the world further. I liked that the author uses a realistic system of magic in his books in a very creative way. I also liked that this book seemed less dark to me than some of the previous books. I always like it when good triumphs over evil and long periods of darkness can be hard for me. So the lack of prolonged great evil in this book was refreshing.

Thrilling Story - A Page-turner!
As always, Bennett has produced a highly entertaining and imaginative story. Athgar and Natalia are heading home but stop in Carlingen where they find reasons to stick around and wait for their Orc friends who have been watching their daughter, Oswyn. And the reasons (problems?) for staying keep growing as the days pass. They witness threats to the kingdom (riots, deceptions and maybe war) as well as more trouble from the Stormwind family. Of course there are skirmishes, battles and extraordinary magic – some of the most amazing feats of magic that are nearly beyond comprehension! Another page-turner that exudes the power of a well-written tome.

Another excellent addition to the series. Athgar and Natalia are again drawn into a fight for the survival of a country in the Petty Kingdoms against the Cunars and the family. Much fighting ensues!

Fantastic book series
I have read all of the frozen flame series so far. Currently reading Torrent and enjoying the adventures of Athgar and Natalia and their journey to to bring freedom and peace amongst the Petty Kingdoms while building their own strong unit Therendia with their new found family the Orks. This book series has battles on a grand scale, Fire wielding masters of flame allied with magical water and earth mages. And also a love story that has been woven in to the story so beautifully. This book series is a must read.

There is more danger ahead
Natalia and Athgar are progressing in their quest against the Family, gathering more friends and allies, but we know there is great danger ahead, although they are becoming more and more powerful! Sadly we have to wait for the final volume (until February). I’m hoping there will be more written by Paul about the “younglings” when they are mature. We need to see how Oswyn uses her double gift.

Entertaining
The Orcs sure seem like First Nations people of Canada. Persecuted and forced to live away from cities. The Schism between the church and the religious orders is interesting. Having read most of the Heir of the Throne. It's interesting to see how the empire's manipulations are perceived by people of the Petty Kingdoms. I like the idea of Agar aging and becoming a contributing member of the ensemble. It's hard to imagine how the empire's multiple legions and army of mages. Fun read. I wasn't planning to read the Temple Knight books, but now I'm curious.
