Great for the kiddo! STEM
My son absolutely loving it, and honestly, so am I! The setup was ridiculously easy – like, two minutes tops and you're good to go. It comes with a few pieces, but nothing complicated at all. Huge win for busy parents like me!What's really cool is the massive window. Seriously, it makes all the difference. My little guy isn't just using it for ants (though we did try that!). He's been fascinated by putting in rolly pollies and other little backyard explorers. And because the window is so big and clear, we can actually see what they're doing – digging tunnels, moving stuff around. It's way more engaging than I even expected. Plus, it comes with sand, which is super convenient.Honestly, I didn't even realize how much he was learning until we started watching together. We talk about how the bugs move, where they go, what they're doing. It's become this unexpected little science lesson that's actually fun! If you're looking for something that's not only entertaining but also sneakily educational, and a great way to bond with your kiddo, you NEED this. It's sturdy, super easy to get going, and provides hours of fascinating observation. Totally worth it! 👍

Very cute idea, but be careful!!
I bought this ant farm for my toddler who is 21 mos old. I ordered the ants per the instructions that came with it. Two vials of ants were delivered and I would report that 75% of one vial were alive and 25% of the other vial were alive. Not sure why? We didn't get them shipped during the middle of summer like warnings mentioned in other reviews. The ant farm is very cute and basic. I set up the sand per instructions and dumped the ants in after a short stint in the fridge. In less than 12 hrs they already had tunnels going every which way!We had the ants for about one week and I noticed they really built up the sand against one of the side walls (the real thin part with green caps on the end to connect tubes to other ant farms). I didn't think anything of it until I walked downstairs one morning to see a large ant on my kitchen floor. Upon further inspection, I noticed one of the green caps had been removed and I had about 15-20 ants on my kitchen island! They built the sand up and pushed the cap out!!! (The caps are barely sitting in place and easily dislodged if you're not careful) I ended up having to kill all of the escapees because I was not about to wrangle up some biting freedom-tasting ants and put them back in the farm LOL m. So my suggestion to the company is maybe secure those caps tighter to prevent any future rise-ups from these ants who tried so hard to take over my household HAHA

Works well and kid's loved it!
My kid's absolutely loved having ants in this! Worked well, no escapes, and the ants burrowed through the soil particles well!

Habitat is okay but the ants were not alive
This was a dud it's not nearly the quality we got when I was a kid... the ants were semi dead when they got here within a week we didn't have any ants.

Ants take a wile to get here.
So fun! It did take longer than I expected for the ants to arrive. You order them AFTER you get the farm.

Ants died within hours
Received this gift and followed the instructions for transferring ants into habitat. Took them right out of the package when they were delivered, put them in the fridge to calm them down, and poured them in. The ants started digging and making tunnels within 30 minutes. After about 2 hours they started slowing down a lot. Within the next hour, they were all dead. I reached out to the company we got the ants from and got no response. To my surprise, when I returned from a weekend getaway and checked my mail, I saw the ants. The company had seen my complaint I sent them about the ants dying. Instead of responding and letting me know that they were going to send more they just sent them. The problem with that is when they send the ants, you have to open the package immediately otherwise, the ants will die. You would think the company would let you know before sending more so you can be prepared. All the ants of course were dead when I opened the package because they got delivered Friday when I was gone and I opened the package as soon as I got home Sunday. I just through away the habitat because it was becoming a headache and my son was super disappointed. This was a birthday gift for him and he was so excited to watch the ants.Overall, I would say it's not worth the headache. I read other reviews and it seemed to be mixed on the ants living so I took a shot...I should have listened to the other people lol.
