These are perfect for fixing black plastic things around the home that break. I even managed to "seal" the frayed piping on the side of a small black suitcase that I was expecting to throw away. Now, there's no need. It's true, these are slightly smaller in diameter than 7mm, which is a minor irritation. But I simply push the stick in by hand or using a regular 7mm stick, and it's all good. The benefits far outweigh the slightly annoying size issue.
