Women Making History: The Revolutionary Feminist Postcard Art of Helaine Victoria Press

Lovely history of a feminist press in 1970s-80s
Detailed, personalized account of Helaine Victoria Press, a collective that issued women’s history postcards & broadsides which made their way to bulletin boards, mailboxes, and refrigerator doors everywhere. Argues convincingly that the postcards were a significant form of feminist popular culture. Well written, and really takes you back to the heady days of women in nontraditional, socially progressive trades.

Making history come alive to inspire action today!
Cohen and Allen have woven an engaging narrative of women's fight for recognition and freedom across the centuries. Following the tradition of Helaine Victoria Press, the work is multi-modal, using text, digital images, audio and video to tell the story of the press and the women who worked to bring the past alive and to inspire us to shape the present and the future. Very Highly recommended. Alice M.
