These potato flakes arrived well sealed and were fresh. The shelf life on these is impressive. It says 30 year shelf life, unopened. I doubled the recipe according to the instructions on the package to make a few small side servings with our chicken tonight. I mixed in a little butter and added salt and served brown gravy over them. The verdict? 3/3 people liked them. I used to eat instant mashed potatoes with my wife years ago, and she admitted that these were really good for instant. I agree.

Only received 1 lb of a 2 lb order. Product states 2 lb. Please fulfill the rest of the order.

The product was fluffy and fresh and created beautiful mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, after eating it, my mouth had a sharp metallic taste and a strange sensation that almost felt like my tongue had been burned. These are signs of high solanine content in the potatoes. Solanine can make you very ill and a high enough dose can kill you. Thankfully, I only ate a small amount of the potatoes because I already wasn't feeling well that day, so I didn't have any ill effects. However, I think the content of solanine is too high and I don't feel safe eating this product, or any similar product. It's a shame, because they tasted great and were very easy to prepare.For comparison, because of dietary restrictions, I eat whole potatoes almost every day, and I have never experienced such strong signs of solanine content from fresh potatoes, even green ones. This is probably a hazard with this kind of product, not this particular brand.

Unfortunately I have to give a three star rating, only for the fact that all three bags had small holes and tears in the bottom of package. I did notice that the bottom were of a thinner material than the rest of the package.

I like that these are shelf stable and don't have a ton of additives. However, they taste horrible. Kind of reminded me of saw dust. The texture was gross. In addition to the instructions, I added heavy whipping cream, milk, butter, salt, onion powder, onion powder and pepper and it made it a bit more edible. I guess it works for emergencies but would not suggest for a dinner side.
