Graceland
What a wonderful memoir. Thus is one book I did not want to end, as it really made me feel as if I was IN Graceland with each page.Having been to Graceland myself in 87, I feel as ifmy trip there is now complete, after all these years. She made the ghosts all come alive. If you’re looking for a book on Elvis, this isn’t it; This is all about The King’s Castle and the folks that loved it as much as he did….

Heartfelt and warm memories
I enjoyed this memoir of Graceland and the Presley family. Mrs. Rooks was a loyal and kind confidante and staff member to Elvis, Vernon and family, and her affection for them is kind. It reflects well on their relationships without resorting to the crass exploitation so often displayed in other Elvis tell-all books.

A few new stories. More information about Vernon, Minnie Mae and Aunt Delta and some Lisa Marie… not much on Elvis… some tidbits on Priscilla… didn’t realize she had Nanny’s for Lisa Marie but not surprised… she fires a few people… eh. Not a fan of hers lol

Elvis Maid Remember
The maid Nancy was a good friends with Elvis. She took care of Elvis like one of her own. Nancy made sure Elvis taken care of. She really loved all the Presley Family. She tells of Elvis's funny side and how Lisa Marie did the same things. This is a great book to read. Nancy did a fantastic job on this book. Kudos to Nancy.

Excellent Read
Of all those cashing in writing books supposedly "knowing Elvis", (you know, like the "Memphis Mafia" and the other hangers-on who each described himself as Elvis' "best friend" and "go to guy" while living off his largesse), this is by far the best book on the simple daily life of Elvis, home at Graceland, that I've read. In-fact, none of the other books are very good; they're all rehash of the same stuff, and I've always followed Elvis.Nancy Rooks, in her own humble, simple way, tells what is was like to be around Elvis at home. The book is like a little collection of stories, (SPOILERS follow), from humor, like Elvis walking Lisa Marie's pony thru the house into his grandmothers bedroom, to his frustration, like when Elvis catches her putting him on a diet taking food off his plate as he watched from upstairs on the kitchen video camera, to his last day when she ran upstairs to find him on the floor.Nancy gives a good description of Graceland itself and tells how it evolved over the years before and after Elvis, and even tells of interesting things to look at on your next visit to Graceland, such as the ceiling overhead as soon as you walk in the front door, where you can still see damage repair from when Elvis "shot up" his toilet in his bathroom overhead causing water to flood the ceiling. (In-fact, I did the Graceland 360 Virtual Tour on Graceland's website and Nancy is right; look at the ceiling over the front door and you can still see the damage after all these years.) She even describes the others who lived in Graceland, like his grandmother, his Aunt Delta, the last occupant of Graceland, of Priscilla and Lisa's living there, how Ginger didn't really live there, Vernon and his second wife, whom Elvis kicked out, to Charlie Hodge living there - I had no idea so many were living there.Overall, a very good book filled with tidbits of Elvis at home from someone who genuinely knew Elvis as he truly was, and someone who was a true part of Elvis family and who wrote this book in a sincere, humble manner in her own writing. Nancy also tells of supernatural events happening around Graceland following Elvis' death - something many of the others, including Lisa Marie, has alluded to.A very good read, but as the others mention in their reviews, it's short. After she details the period surrounding Elvis death, she pretty much expedites all the years that follow in just a few pages, largely bypassing Graceland opening to tours, life with Aunt Delta during those years, her last days there before retiring, etc.

A surprising insight.
This book gives you insights into Elvis's relatives who lived with Elvis. I like to read books on Elvis written by those close to him. I liked this book better than I thought I would.

A different perspective of Elvis Presley
I loved this book! I am a huge fan of Elvis’s and read everything I can about him! It was good to hear about Nancy’s experience working for Elvis for 10 years and becoming part of the Presley family. It gives you (the reader) a different perspective of Elvis as a person, not just an entertainer. Highly recommended!
