Q: Is this a good option for gamers?

Not the best but it works ... very few games are coded for Apple now. Internet games are best done with PC platform, they are better to be repaired, upgraded, and work better with the internet as there are more PC gamers then Apple gamers. Q: Is this new-used or refurbished?

Hard to tell being it is so old. On Amazon, in particular with Automotive products there are fakes, compete fraud going on. It looks like an Apple Computer or an NGK sparkplug or Gucci Wallet with almost identical packaging, and instructions pages, but it is not. If you want to be sure you have a proper Apple product, refurbished or new, get it from Apple. Then get their extended Apple Care warranty. With that said .. you want to know how to repair the SSD (solid state drive memory) then here is a video showing you just that.
