Excellent Wheels
I am thrilled with these wheels. I have ridden about 100 miles and they have performed at least as well as my previous carbon fiber Knight brand rims with Novatec hubs. The rims have come very quickly into excellent alignment with a little tweaking... they are also keeping that alignment very well. The big benefit of these rims over carbon fiber has to do with the height of the rims. These are 30 mm high and my carbon rims were 55 mm. This made it very difficult to stretch a tire on the carbon rims. I put my tires on these easily with just a little work to stretch the tires over the rims with my thumbs... no lever was needed at all, not even close. This is a huge benefit of aluminum rims over carbon and the main reason why I wanted these rims in the first place; flat tires will take 10 minutes to fix versus 45 minutes or more with 55 mm carbon rims. The other big benefit of these rims is that stopping power (with rim brakes) is significantly better using synthetic rubber pads (Shimano pads for aluminum rims in my case) versus the high-temperature resistant material that must be used in the pads for carbon rims (due to the high temperatures achieved at the carbon surface while braking). The performance of the Pasak hubs on these wheels is at least as good as the big-name brand Novatec hubs on my prior wheels. The wheels actually align better with the frame than before, that is, they are centered better in the frame. I am pleased in every way with my new wheels. Incidentally, just for informational purposes, I am using 700 X 25C tires (25 mm wide) and they are performing excellently on these wheels.
