Surprisingly neutral earphones, lots of detail no big bass boost
I do some amateur recording, for which I use studio monitors and headphones, and have come to strongly dislike the usual type of earphone with boosted boom and tizz. To me, these sound much more balanced and pleasant across the spectrum, and they're not wildly expensive. A good buy.

Unbelievable bargain
Unbelievable bargain. So good that I have bought three more pairs. Honestly, the sound is on a par with other earphones I have costing twenty times more.

My week experience
So theese are uncomfortable which might just be my ear. They need a rubber housing added to keep it tight when in use which I had to use electrical tape for. They aren't great sound quality but I wasnt really expecting anything amazing. When they get tugged by a door handle well the image shows.Good for a quick fix but do leak quite a bit when on calls or doing takes.

Amazing !!
Having had several iems costing £100 plus I bought these based on a review in a high end Hifi magazine stating they were as good as some at £200 for under £10 so thought I would try (why not at this price) at first listening they were very harsh however after a period of burning in they just got better just the right balance of top end and bass for me. They are the most comfortable iems I have had yet. Will be buying more when these finally die as all iems do.

Buen precio

Excellent sound quality. Unheard-of price.
Love them! They are a fantastic, unheard-of quality for this price point--there is NO down side. Within days of buying these, I ordered KZ's dual-driver ZST ear monitors, and gave these to my son. He uses them daily and loves them. He can also use them as ear monitors for his Alesis electronic drum kit, as they will actually carry the whole range of sound, especially the bass, where regular earbuds can't. Basically, with these around I didn't have to buy him some hundred-dollar over-the-ear headphones for drumming practice, and he also gets great sound listening to music on his phone and such. And then I had to buy another pair of these for my wife so she could listen to music at work and the gym. I'll probably end up buying a couple more for my daughters, and then probably some backups as well. At this price, why not?You just can't compare these ATE monitors to other brands of earbuds in the $10-$40 price range; start your quality comparisons with earbuds in the $100+ price range, and then you'll be on track. But unless you enjoy paying an extra Ben Franklin for a brand name, you'll dump the Beats for these Chi-fi wonders. Listen, I could give you an audiophile review and get picky on the flimsy feel of the cables and the wish for a slightly different EQ curve; and I might have if I'd paid $150 for them. But these are $13. At that price point, complaints are useless. They absolutely kill the $40 JBLs that I was using. They easily compete with pro ear monitors at about the price/quality point of Shure SE310 (an older model I used extensively, cost about $139 a few years back). So could you find some nit-picky things at 10 times the price? Sure. Is quality control sometimes an issue with Chinese manufacturing, so that you might get a lemon? Of course. But these are $13. $13!!!! If you happen to get a bad cable, buy another pair, it'll probably be just fine, and it cost less than a replacement iPhone earbud set, which it blows away in the sound quality department.Again, why review this further, when in quality and comfort you'd have to compare the ATE against earbuds and ear monitors that are more expensive by a factor of 10. Just watch for these to be back in stock stateside with Amazon, and immediately buy them. Or go ahead and order some and wait a couple of weeks for them to get here from China. Whatever. I've done both. At this price, buy a couple of extra for backups, or for the other family members that will clamor for them once they try yours, or get some to mod like the audiophile modding community does...you just can't really go wrong here.

Well rounded budget IEM, probably one of the best options around its price range!
These KZ ATES have become my go-to recommendation for budget IEMs.My budget IEM history around this price class ($5-100 or so) include Panasonic ErgoFits, various Monoprice in-ear offerings, Shure SE215s and the MEE Audio M6 Pros. In the list of these IEMs, there's a clear quality tier between the Panasonics/Monoprices and the latter two - but even though the ATEs cost as much as a pair of $15 ErgoFits, its sound quality easily competes handily with the likes of the SE215s and the M6 Pros. The Beteran KZ ATEs came in a shield-shaped plastic case, which easily doubled as a carrying case if you use an elastic to keep it closed. The first look at this pair honestly blew me away. The build quality looked amazing, the translucent black plastic shells beautifully displayed what KZ advertised as 'Balanced Armature' drivers, and the cables were shimmering sleeved copper wire. By aesthetics and build themselves, the ATEs were already nestling comfortably amongst expensive IEMs like Westones, Ultimate Ears, etc.The sound placed it in the middle of my SE 215s and the M6 Pros. Unfortunately fit makes a huge difference in both the sound and the comfort of these things, so if you find yourself not compatible with any of the ear tips supplied (two sets of silicons, M and L, and a set of Comply-like foam), these IEMs may not be for you. For reference, this review was written using the M-size silicon tips. With a darker sound signature than the relatively neutral M6 Pros, but not quite as dark as the SE215s, the ATEs push a solid reproduction of clear mids, strong if not slightly uncontrolled bass, and decent highs. In terms of overall sound quality, they are slightly less appealing than both the SE215s and the M6 Pros, but it's definitely a close battle - closer than you would expect from a ~$20 pair of headphones. Soundstage is also passable but nothing to really write home about. The cable fit is a little strange. I'm used to the Shure-type memory wire that wraps around the ear in a cable-up fit, but these IEMs have taken an alternative route to keeping the cable around the ear, using a small golden weight on the wire to keep the cable buoyed down. It takes some getting used to and wobbles a bit when moving around, so that's a bit of a minus if you're looking to move around with these headphones or are used to memory wire. Wearing these cable-down is a total no-no for me, uncomfortable and awkward with the golden weights dangling awkwardly around my neck level. All in all, the review's been a little harsh because I'm comparing these to headphones in a slightly higher price class of $80-120, but considering that those headphones cost 4 times how much these budget offerings do, the KZ ATEs really impress and blow its similarly-priced competitors out of the water, price performance considered. If you're looking for a great pair of IEMs and you have a spare $20, definitely give these a try.
