Not razor sharp but a good overall knife
Great Knife, not really sharp out of the box. This is an awesome knife and really handy, but not razor sharp as advertised. I look forward to get this razor sharp and see how long it keeps its edge. Until then it’s a good design and well built.

Quality product, great design, lite weight.
Super sharp, well made as are all Cold Steel knives. Finger grooves make it easy to handle.

good blade
I love knives and am a fan of Cold Steel products even though many of their products are from China but this particular piece is from Taiwan. Is that better who knows? But this little blade is very good quality the handle has this really nice textured feel to it and good finger grooves. Not sure how someone with big hands will like it since it is quite small. The blade comes pretty sharp, the chain is decent, im 5'5 and the knife around my neck hangs to about my navel. I'd say buy it but remember this knife is only for opening boxes and last ditch self defense. Gave four stars only because the knife feels a tad bit heavy on my neck ( Im 160 lbs) but might be from the thin chain putting more pressure and digs into your skin.

It fits great in the hand with a very comfortable grippy handle
Little bigger than the average neck knife but is approximately the same size as an ESEE Izula which many people are familiar with. It fits great in the hand with a very comfortable grippy handle. retention of the sheet is great. The tanto grind is awesome and, like everything else I have ever purchased from Cold Steel, it comes crazy sharp right out of the box. This is a few bucks more than a CRKT Minimalist so if you are looking at a CRKT but want a little bigger knife for that price this is perfect for you. If you are looking at an Izula but want something more affordable this Is awesome , about the same size similar size sheath and way better priced. You can buy two of these for the Izula Price but this is Aus-8 Steel so the Izula has a slight advantage having 440C steel both are good but in My experience 440C has better edge retention. Its better but not twice as good, so for the price The MiniTac Tanto is a better deal in my opinion. If you are affraid the Aus 8 wont last the next 10 years.....then buy 2 these are very affordable! but I am sure this will last a long time. I have a Cold steel Finn Wolf in Aus 8 steel and it is super tough. They do better heat treatment on Aus 8 than others (I'm looking at you Ontario RAT 1 and RAT 2). The finwolf is Aus 8 and scandi grind wich is a very delicate edge and the Finn wolf is tough, so I think you can have confidence in this knife.

Amazing quality and engineering.
I brought this knife with me for a week long vacation to Dominican Republic. I used it to cut fish and coconuts and took it into the water with me at 11 beaches. It WILL oxidize in water. However after arriving home I used a bit of vinegar and a dish scrubbing pad and it looks almost as good as new. It's very easily concealable, very sharp, very egronomic. As for the grip being "too textured" according to some reviewers, I didn't find that to be the case at all. I found the texture to be perfect as it gave me excellent grip. The blade has managed to hold it's sharpness, even as I used it to dig in sand under-water that had shells and rocks. The steel isn't as "stainless" as I would hope, but it's a small trade-off considering the excellent durability of the blade.I really did abuse the knife quite a few times, and the blade didn't chip or dull. My only complaint is that the knife is hard to unsheathe, but I corrected this by leaving it sitting for a few datys with a coin tucked under the plastic where the finger notch is.I highly recommend this blade, as despite it's small handle, it's easy to maintain a strong grip, and I'd feel confident to rely on this knife in both combat and survival situations.

Mini Tac Tanto
Cold steel quality at a great price! Nice knife, point flat ground with hollow grind down length of blade equals a much stronger tip for whatever piercing chores you may have in mind. My only quibble, and it is minor, is that the description said it would be a g10 handle, however it is a "faux g10" according to cold steel. why not just call it micarta, or whatever plastic material is it? finish provides good grip. Secure-ex sheath is versatile and grips blade solidly for inverted or neck carry. While the grip is relatively small it is very secure with 2 deep finger notches as well as handle texture preventing slipping.Construction is solid as you'd expect from Cold Steel and I expect it to last me many years, assuming it doesn't strike someone else's fancy and sprout legs as such things sometimes do. I would recommend a mini tac in whatever blade configuration suits your needs without reservation bearing in mind that is is an intermediate size fixed blade and has the limitations inherent in it's physical size.

Great blade, somewhat odd grip.
I have had this necklace knife for a month or two, and have been pretty happy with it. I haven't done all that much with the blade, mostly opening packages. I have yet to sharpen it, and i don't believe I'll need to for some time. The weight, while noticeably heavier than my other two neck knives, is still quite comfortable. You might want to think twice about wearing a white shirt with this blade. The sheath is good, and will retain the knife with jumping, running, falling up the stairs (don't ask) and naps. The handle of the knife is really the only thing i can complain about. Its oddly shaped, mostly because of the way the sheath retains the knife, and in do part to try to make it comfortable to use. It is still very easily used, and it will probably only be a little while before you're used to it. The only other complaint i have is somewhat specific to me, so I'm not counting this in my rating. The holes in the sheath are too small for the paracord i use, and the chain that comes with the sheath, while quite sturdy, will start to rust. Or something. I've found that if i sweat at all, i have a greenish brown band left around the back of my neck. It does wash off easily enough. The chain has also become somewhat discolored. When all is said and done, i give this 4.8 out of 5,because of the grip. I'm definitely happy with it, and will probably buy this again, if the need arose.
