The instrument was looking legitimate, but, it was not functioning right.
When playing the instrument, right in the middle of the melody was not making any sound. And sometime after you were done with playing, it was playing by itself without you blow in it. Middle

Midi issues with Ingpartner i8 Pro
I hope this evaluation of the i-8 Pro helps people make up their minds if they want to purchase this product or not. I had High hopes that this was the digital wind controller to buy because it actually has a 5-pin MIDI output connector on it instead of relying on Bluetooth which does not work for musical instruments. But the i-8 Pro falls short in some critical areas that cause me to have to send it back for a refund from AMAZON.1. You must start blowing air into i-8 Pro first, then touch the keys when connected to MIDI DAWs or synthesizers making it impossible to play staccato notes. But the i-8 Pro will let you play staccato and long notes freely when playing the internal sounds only.2. The i-8 Pro controls the volume for it's internal sounds from buttons on the front lower section of the unit, but when you connect it to a midi DAW or synthesizer it controls the volume of the DAW or synthesizer also. So you can not turn down the volume of the built in speaker on the i-8 Pro and play a MIDI synth or DAW at any volume you choose, because when you turn the volume down on the i-8 Pro it sends a volume control message to the synthesizer or DAW to lower the volume also. So you can not hear the synth or DAW without hearing the i8-Pro also.3. If you just want a digital wind instrument the i-8 Pro will work because it has octave key-rollers on the back side of the instrument above the thumb bracket which is nice. The display and other controls on the bottom front of the instrument are nice also. But unless you plan to play only long notes the i-8 Pro will not work for you as a MIDI wind controller.4. I have not had the opportunity to play the i-9 which might work without the limitations of the i-8 Pro as a MIDI controller. Maybe some one will post a review of the i9-Pro and address the issues that I have listed above.

At Best OK
This horn has a good feel to it but it's finicky. The Sax fingering is not Sax fingering. All the chromatics are controlled by a single button with does sharps. The Sax doesn't work like that. Bb is really awkward. Index and middle fingers are down, the ring finger is up, and the pinky is curled down to the button that does the half-step up. The default dynamics of the horn are such that in the middle octave when descending from G to F, the volume drops off considerably and muddies up. It is very sensitive to the angle it is held at. The presets are very bright with strong sharp overtones. There's a problem with decay and release. They aren't really there. The default sounds like a variety of car horns. You can soften the sound via the mouthpiece but it's more work than it should be. I was looking for something between my 10-tone Midi Ewi and my Akai Solo. This is not quite it.
