Good for beginners.
A good book for those brand new to Chess. I bought it as a refresher, and it was good in that role.I found the last third of the book more useful than the early sections.

Perfect Start to Learning Chess
I learned chess through playing with family and friends. This book provides the comprehensive foundation I never received. In addition, the format made it easy for me to speed through items or concepts I’d already mastered. As a busy person, the format was appealing because I was able to read as little as one statement in a sitting, which made me inclined to open the book more often. This format was also useful for focusing on a small set of statements at a time. The author is an excellent teacher.

Great for getting back into Chess
Wanted to start over from many, many years ago. Bruce Pandolfini's introduction and explanations are a great place to begin exploring chess once again. Would recommend tis book for beginners or re-starters. (Brief anecdote; many years ago rode the Long Island railroad to and from Manhattan. These were the old nasty diesel trains (called the rattler) with wicker seats but where the seat backs could be moved. On the trips home one fellow would, with his back to four or five players behind him, play them all at once and even, remarkably back track to correct errors that a player had made. It was very impressive and the car would be packed with onlookers. I'll be happy if I can learn the piece moves again ;-)
