Good for teenagers
If you’re looking to use this book as an adult, with adult problems, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. A lot of the thought exercises don’t take real adult life into account, offering solutions such as just buy a house if you’re sick of renting. Later in the book, the reader is invited to think of an event that you often think “what if” about. My example had been “what if I hadn’t got cancer and had to have a hysterectomy”. On the next page, it asks you to consider how you could prevent this issue next time, so this was not a particularly fun turn of events for me. All that said, if you have a teenage girl in your life, I think this would be good for them. It offers advice on how to be happier in yourself, so long as those issues are caused by small issues in thinking rather than the unfortunate life events that are inevitable as we age. There are a few typos in the copy I received, so overall I was rather disappointed.

If you have the ability to love, love yourself first
Read on Kindle Unlimited. The book contains quite a few wise quotes, such as: "If you have the ability to love, love yourself first" (apparently this was said by Charles Bukowski). And this summarises one of the main messages of the book - that it's best not to keep beating yourself up and to avoid repeating negative thoughts about yourself There are many spaces where the reader can enter their thoughts or notes - so it is really a workbook. There can't be much doubt that the author's emphasis on the power of believing in yourself is a wise and positive approach that is likely to help with improving the quality of life. Nowadays there are so many pressures and influences that bombarding us from all sides that it is worth taking a few moment to consider, as the book suggests, how one should best respond to various situations and whether we want to deal people who behave in negative ways. I like the discussion of the power of positive self-talk and the positive Conclusion. To summarise, if you want to make some positive changes to your life and how you interact with other people, this is probably worth reading.
