At last! The brain science behind manifestation
The book has been described as ‘the best guide ever written to making your dreams come true…’Let me share some learnings from the book…Now we’ve all heard about the importance of practicing gratitude and how it can make us happier healthier and more resilient, but did you know…That in a study of over 300 college students, many of who were struggling with depression and anxiety, those who received counselling and also wrote a gratitude letter each week showed significant improvements in their mental well being compared to those who had only received counselling. Not only that, but their brain activity was measured, and the part of the brain that is associated with moral and social understanding, reward, empathy and value judgment had greater activation. The conclusion of the study was that genuine gratitude helps people to feel supported, a desire to support others and relieves stress. So, surely writing down what you’re genuinely grateful for every single day has to be a worthwhile habit to bolster mental and emotional well-being as well as overall happiness? When we focus on what’s good in our life, it’s incredible how much goodness we see, and who knows, maybe dreams can come true.Thank you Dr James Doty for bringing another brilliant book into the world, one that brings the science of the brain and the subconscious mind together simply and beautifully.

Expands Your Thinking – Makes You Want to Dig Deeper
This book really opened my mind — not just in a motivational sense, but in terms of wanting to go out and actually research the ideas behind it. It’s sparked a curiosity in me to understand how the brain works when it comes to belief, focus, and what we can change in our lives. If you’re even slightly into the mind-body link or neuroscience, it’s definitely worth a read.

Definitely Worth Buying
No book is perfect. The only question to answer is: is there enough here to merit your time reading this book? A resounding yes in this case. What I loved about it: a brilliant explanation of how stress impacts the brain and can get in the way of carving out the life you want. I am not a scientist and the way Doty writes is clear enough for any intelligent layperson. I am grateful to him for highlighting the paradox of how you need to focus on what you want in order to train your subconscious to accept that as a reality (even if one that is not realised yet)...and at the same time you need to develop a nimble detachment as regards how your intentions pan out. The two dogs of your mind - the subconscious and the ego. Down boys! Nobody had ever explained that to me so well. A wealth of helpful metaphors like the filing cabinet and the bloodhound. On the down side, the exercises he suggests to implement the concepts in the book are not very good. And the rags-to-riches-to-rags story he starts with is too long. I'd rather get on and judge the ideas on their own merit (this is such a common fault with so many books of this nature). However it was relatively simple to skip ahead of the bits that didn't work for me.Overall, the best book I have read this year.

A hard slog to get through but useful pieces of information
I found this book a hard slog to get through, so much so I gave up with the hardcover book and got the Audible version as I thought that would be better. It wasn't. James spends a lot of time in the first part of the book showing how the brain works and listing certain areas, and then acronyms for them. Later on he makes numerous references to these but only by the acronyms, so the reader is expected to remember. The exercises in both the book and Audible version are often very wordy. There is no way the reader would remember all the steps, and even in the Audible version there is no pause between them. The reader would have to record the steps on their phone and then listen to it.At the start of the book James references losing a lot of money and his prized mansion. Later on in the book he is clearly living in another expensive mansion with financial issues all solved, but makes no references at all as to how he achieved this.I was disappointed to read "many of the projects I pursue do not happen at all" from a manifestation expert! Seems like it is often a coin toss to manifest anything. All the above stated I did get some value from the book. There is a 6 week schedule at the end and I will do that after I have had a break from this material. I also now understand it is my attachment to things happening that is not helping the manifestation process...even if it is a coin toss I still want to put the odds in my favour.
