The box comes with everything needed for dropping ashes into the sea. We placed the ashes in the biodegradable bag provided. And then placed it into the box and then wrapped the starfish cover around it and sealed it with the strips provided. When dropping it into the water it floats for about 5-10 seconds then it starts to submerge and sink. While it sinks the starfish cover opens up but the box stays intact as it floats to the bottom. It made for a wonderful ceremony.

The box in the large size is about the size of a shoebox, and matches roughly the size of the standard black plastic urn/shoebox that cremains are delivered in. You do need to transfer the ashes from that original container and its internal plastic bag to the biodegradable bag that comes with this pressed paper urn -- you can't just wedge the original urn into this one.While the prices of these things seems to be predatory - it is just pressed paper after all - this one is among the most reasonably priced options, and is well made and comes with an inner bag tie, closing band, and instructions. Don't forget to keep the biodegradability certificate with you, and make the necessary notification of intent and arrangements with the cruise line if you plan to release your loved one's remains at sea.

This urn is approved by cruise line to use. Just be sure to take the paper work that is included with you so then can review it. The urn is decorative, just have to be careful when transporting especially if putting it in checked luggage at airport.

Bought two. One for each of my parents. These are absolutely beautiful. Very easy to transfer cremains. Dissolves in a nice manner.
