Pure Voice Audio Bible - New International Version, NIV (Narrated by Barbara Rosenblat): The Gospels

I love this particular Bible as it blends some of the features I seek most when looking for a reading Bible (as opposed to a study Bible):1) Reliable, Academically Suitable Translation (NIV-1984 is a pretty decent translation all things considered--very readable and accurate) (the typeface is about 12.5)2) Large Print Text (which reduces eye strain and makes it easier to read for long periods of time)3) Cloth-Based Binding (which is more flexible and typically longer-lasting than glue/paper bindings)4) Single-Column Text (reads more like a novel and leaves the reader with a sense of accomplishment--the double-column format of many Bibles can make the text seem like the material is twice as long)5) An Absence of Commentary (this Bible only includes translators' notes and thus does not bias the interpretation of the text--very important in a reading Bible)I would recommend this Bible to anyone, but particularly people who want to read through the Bible for the first time.

I love this Bible! I do not need glasses to read it. It's a very nice-looking Bible. It is large so takes up more room at a table, but worth it!

I was reading the NKJV Bible, and read a passage that did not make sense. So I went to Bible Gateway to look at the same passage in NIV. It made a whole lot more sense. So I bought this large print NIV Bible from Amazon, and am so happy I did.Of course I had to make some changes by using my archival ink pens whenever it was called for. One example: In Matthew Jesus says He calls sinners. In Mark He does the same thing: He calls sinners. But in Luke, He calls sinners to repentance. Matthew and Mark should have the same thing that Luke has, because that is what Jesus said.The large print in this Bible is good and large, but not distractingly giant. The last page of the Bible is Titled Table of Weights and Measures, and nothing else is back there but that. There is no useless Concordance that makes the Bible unnecessarily thicker. I like that.There are small footnotes at the bottom of the pages of the Bible text that are informative.Each verse is numbered but the text is in paragraph form.There are small margins that make note taking challenging for many. Me, I write my notes at the top or in between paragraphs and draw a green line from note to verse in .005 archival ink. So my system for marking works good for this Bible so it is not a stumbling block to me. I always keep in mind that too many road signs is no different than no road signs.The imitation leather is supple The Bible is compact and easily carried to church, and rugged enough.I look at the Binding and at the two facing pages that are also glued to the cover. I will put strips of laminating strips on one side of those pages to strengthen them and will keep my eye on the glued binding as time goes. Glue gets old and pages separate in time. If needed I will get the glue book binders use.All in all this is becoming my Bible as I make the necessary changes. It is the 1984 NIV version and not the 2011 version. That is the primary reason I paid for this particular Bible. It's a keeper.

I wanted to start reading the Bible again. My giant print King James Bible is very nice, but hard to follow and understand in some places. So, I thought I would read the NIV version. Got that one out and the one I have has print that isn't quite big enough for me to read without my reading glasses. Plus the pages are thin to the point where the text on the other side bleeds through and is annoying. The print in this Bible is great - it is large enough (14 point) and dark enough that I don't need to use my reading glasses. I bought the paperback version with a Bible cover, but it doesn't stay in the Bible cover very well and keeps coming out of the holding flap. So, going to send the Bible holder/cover back and will hope the paperback version will hold up - guess I don't see why it wouldn't. Less expensive than the other versions. My one NIV Bible has an introduction before each chapter and I really like that and miss that in this Bible. No gold leaf around the outside of the pages - but that isn't a deal breaker - just a nice to have. No ribbon for a book mark either. Again - small things I wish it had - but none of them are deal breakers. Christ's words are in red. The large dark print with pages that don't bleed through so bad is what I was after and this Bible delivers that. As I said - I can comfortably read it without my reading glasses, so I will be keeping it.Note - this is the new NIV version, so be ready for it to be worded just slightly different from time to time.

I purchased this bible for my grandson and it definitely exceeded my expectations (all my previous bibles have also been Zondervan). I especially liked that the print was very dark and easy to read and felt blessed to be able to find a 1984 version of the NIV, since there aren't that many around anymore. The 1984 and versions previous are the only ones that still contain the complete word of God; subsequent versions of this precious Word have been compromised by the removal of "unnecessary" scriptures by the "powers that be."

I love this bible. It has very large print. And it is the older version, which in my opinion is much better. While it is a paper back it is still my favorite bible. Even though I have much nicer and more expensive bibles

This is a great bible with easy to read font and it is easy to understand the meaning of the text. When compared to the KJV the NIV translation doesn't differ from the meanings its just written in modern dialogue.Very fast shipment it came. It came way before the estimated standard shipping date. I ordered it on the 10-22 and received it on 10-25 I bought this a a replacement bible because I lost my other one. It was supposed to be used and it actually came brand new.

I like everything about this book.

The zipper is of excellent quality and the paper quality and print is also good. Front cover is a vibrant turquoise and well made a great buy

Excellent study bible and the print is as advertised. Easy on the eyes. Would reccomend.

I love having this to listen to in my car or in the evening before bed. The narrator is very easy to listen to and I will definately choose him again when purchasing more as I would also like to get the Psalms and Proverbs.

Initially considered the "tiny" size version but thought that one would be too small so chose this "pocket" size in the end and it's just what I needed! The writing is clear and not blurred, perfect for everyday useCame on time and in perfect conditions (thank you ARTSnCRAFTS~Books)I was expecting the edge of the all pages to be coloured like some other version does but this one does not have a gold edge. When I first opened each pages, the rounded corner of the edges are slightly stuck together. I'm assuming this is because of the brand new cutting and possibly protective glue(?) that book pages have? It took some time to open each page and ensure that none are still 'stuck' together. Overall the pages are not easy to crease and are definitely of good quality! Zipper works smoothly to protect all the pages too.There were some unnoticeable defect on the cover (a foreign substance causing a dent, some dried glue stuck on the sewn edge of cover) but they were removable by some cleaning and weren't visible at all afterwards.Definitely 5 stars and would recommend to buy all any friends and relatives in need of a pocket Bible!
