Little lipped
These dishes are amazing!!! There is a raised edge that keeps your food from sliding off the plates. All of the dishes are larger than the average and they are very well made. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. Their finish cleans easy and air dries quickly.

Durable, attractive, well made set (hefty)
These dishes are heftier than I was expecting, but I find I really like that about them. Very attractive, durable, well made, and they were packaged with care from Manufacturer so as to arrive without any breaks or cracks, etc.I have used mostly random dishes picked up at goodwill, or a garage sale or the dollar store - so I suppose I'm not very elegant. *shrug* That said, I did a "grown up" thing and picked up this set of dishes because .. Well, honestly, Martha Stewart is a brand for a reason. And these did not disappoint!Great set, very attractive, nice and weighty - they feel like I could pass them on to the next generation .. It seems MOST things are made, these days, to break, and rather force you into buying replacements. These dishes are NOT that, and do, IMHO, exceed expectations, and I look forward to using for years!

Disappointed
These blue reactiveware dishes are beautiful out of the box, but they don’t hold up to everyday use. The glaze gets scratch marks quickly, it looks terrible after a few runs in the dishwasher and they chip like crazy. I bought 4 sets for a service for 16 less than two years ago and am looking for better quality dishes now.Highly don’t recommend this set.

Good looking dinnerware set
I've never owned a complete set of matching dinnerware or any type of dishes. Never wanted to either. No good explanation - I've just always preferred having a cabinet full of dishes that look good together that don't necessarily go together.Last week this set of Martha Stewart dinnerware appeared in my Amazon Vine feed (a program that offers new products free of charge in exchange for unbiased reviews) in my favorite color - blue. They arrived today, all twelve pieces (4 each of bowls, salad plates and dinner plates) in new condition with no dings, chips or scratches. They're nice and hefty dishes that look very nice. They're microwave and dishwasher safe. I don't own either, however so that doesn't concern me. In my opinion both microwaves and dishwashing machines diminish the looks of everything that runs through them over time.My cabinets and myself will get used to and enjoy this new set of matching dinnerware. As luck would have it, no mugs were included in the blue set. Gotta draw the line somewhere, as I've enjoyed being able to choose a different coffee mug each day of the month for nearly 25 years now. Again, no good explanation. It just is what it is.

Good Plates But Missing Something...
Well first up, I looked EVERYWHERE for insider stock tips. I guessed there would be some from Martha somewhere. Trust me, I looked front, back, inside, in all the packaging....three are no insider stock tips inside this box!Oh yeah, the plates. The color is about 1/2 a shade lighter than the pictures, which is good as the color isn't dark blue in the photos but in reality they're a rich dark blue. The plates are thick and heavy and hold heat well. No issues with the enamel or presentation, all are good and arrived OK. The bowls are a little deeper and wider than average but the plates are normal sized.I haven't dropped one to test the durability or sturdiness but I'd assume they're average. In a short bit of normal handling there's no chips or other issues. A good set of plates to compliment your kitchen!

A Stoneware Set That’s Solid, Pretty, and Worthy of Martha’s Name
If you’re a lover of delicate, fine china, scroll on by and refresh your search bar – Wedgewood or Mikasa these dishes are not. But if you like solid, well-made stoneware dishes, then you’re looking in the right place. These are heavy-duty pieces yet not overly thick or bulky. Coloration is lighter than what’s shown in the product promotional photos, which seem dark by comparison. My photos appear to show a better representation of the shade of blue that’s featured. The interior of each piece is glossy and a bit darker than the matte blue exterior, providing a nice bit of contrastThis set includes 12 pieces – service for four – and includes the usual suspects. You’ll find dinner plates, smaller salad/sandwich plates, and generously sized – some would say oversized – cereal bowls. Personally, I think each bowl will hold at *least* half a box of cereal ... far more than a standard serving. Perhaps the humongous size of these big fellas would be better suited for use as serving bowls rather than for individual portions.[Side Note: While using the bowls to store leftovers, I encountered an interesting quirk – for some reason, ClingWrap and other plastic film does *not* like to stick to these dishes. Why? I haven’t a clue. You've been warned.]Moving on, my set has good manufacturing standards. Each of the 12 pieces was smooth, blemish-free, and free from any flaws. The set was packaged in a way to provide padding and protection, but there was one oversight – the box itself is a bit … well … frankly, it’s kind of “fugly.”Typically, products that are endorsed by a celebrity are packaged in a way to showcase that fact. For example, other dinnerware sets that bear Martha Stewart’s name are usually in shiny boxes with lovely photos featuring Martha, as well as showing the dishes in use. Yet this set comes in what is almost a Plain Brown Wrapper – a rather bland brown box. Did it get the job done? Yes, it did. Is it a “giftable” box that you’d be proud to hand to someone as a housewarming present? Nope, that it is not. Now, here’s the explanation for my decision to give 4-stars rather than 5-stars. Most dinnerware that is service for four includes 16 pieces, but this set has only 12. What’s missing? There are no cups or mugs to go with the rest of the dishes. In my opinion, this is a big oversight – people typically want matching sets that include two sizes of plates, a bowl, and a cup or mug. Without matching cups, I don’t feel I can give this set a full 5-stars.BOTTOM LINE: This set of Portillo stoneware dishes is well-made and of a quality that’s worthy of carrying Martha’s name. It would earn a full 5-stars if the set included matching cups or mugs – an oversight that, for some people, may lessen its value.

Microwaveable
I really like this set. The color is a very nice deep blue. The dishes are sturdy and nice looking. They are truly microwaveable and do not get hot in the microwave. I have had several other dishes claim they were microwaveable, but not. They are holding up well in the dishwasher. They were packaged very well to make sure they survived shipping without any damage.
