Every few years I buy another one of these, because I’m constantly either A) losing them or B) giving them away to hapless plant parents. I cannot impress this upon plant people enough — YOU NEED THIS THING. It is consistently the best and only way I can gauge how much water and moisture is hanging out at the very bottom of my pots. And that dictates when I water. Some of my plants like getting bone dry before a dousing — the meter can show me when they’re drier than dry, all the way to the bottom. Some of my other plants only like getting *kinda* dry before a light watering. Again, moisture meter will show me. Because it’s a gauge and the meter works on something of a dial, it’s easy to get a sense of where each plant is on water retention. The one thing I will say is that they can last for years but I’ve had a few meters go bad on me randomly, where they always say dry even when I just watered, so watch out for that. Overall this thing is a godsend for the low cost.

received my 2 pack of the moisture sensor. one worked - one didnt - the needle never moved. so i requested a replacement - the return and reorder was quick and easy - but more importantly - i now have 3 moisture meters - so before i sent the original 2 back - how accurate are they? -all 3 tested the exact readings in multiple locations and have no problems for the past year and the 2 i still have - continue to display the exact same readings

Still trying to figure this thing out although it seems it would be relatively easy. It seem to dance all over the place with the moisture. Not sure if it’s calibrated correctly or not. Might be worth spending the couple of extra bucks for something better.

This works very well in helping me not to over water or under water my new plants. Reads fast and seems to be accurate. Easy to clean. Easy to use, not to big and bulky. Worth the money.

This moisture sensor died way too early - within the first week! I stuck it in a hanging basket, so I could see when it needs to be watered without having to climb a stool every time to check. The first few days, it worked great - the needle would go down to "dry", then I'd water the pot, and the needle would go back up to "moist", then over the course of the next day or two it would slowly drop down to "dry" again, and so on. But before the first week was over, the needle stopped moving. It got stuck on "dry" and would stay there no matter how much I watered the pot! I'd water until it ran out the bottom hole, completely drenching the soil, and the needle would still read "dry". The hanging basket is under the covered porch, not in direct rain (though it shouldn't matter, if this is a water sensor). It wasn't damaged in any way. It just sat there in my pot. This is unacceptable, and the device is completely useless now.
