This cooling thermostat is dead simple to use, unlike others that I have owned, where it was a full read of the manual to make a simple adjustment.With this unit, just press “set” for 3 seconds, then either the up or the down arrow to reach your desired temperature. If you want to switch from F to C, just a simple tap of either the up or down arrow. That’s it. There’s nothing else to know.The unit seems durable and it also seems to retain the desired settings after a power outage or unplugging.The only downside is that there is no adjustment for the dead band range. It is preset at 1 degree. In other words, it will cycle frequently to maintain the temperature within that one degree range. That may not be a problem for simple box fans, but for pumps, air conditioners or larger motors, it is often desirable to have a wider spread, since frequent cycling wastes energy and caused premature failure of motors.The maximum rating for this device is 1000 watts at 120 volts, or about 8 amps. That would probably be too low for most air conditioners except evaporative types (swamp coolers), but fine for most home greenhouse fans, sprinkler valves, or window motor operators, and at around $17, this is a good value.
