Good quality and excellent coverage.
Used to paint my galvanised garage door, coverage was good with easy application although a little bit thin but quite common for hammerite. One year later paint is still attached so primer is obviously good quality. Excellent value for money.

Very good coverage, seems to work.
Very good coverage, seems to work. Used on external galvanised bolts on gate hinge. Put a single coat of black Hammerite over the top and looks all solid.

Exactly what I required
A quick delivery from the seller and packaged very well including taping the lid down to stop it coming off in transit.

Good product but shame about packaging
Bought to prime copper radiator pipes before painting. Although the paint is very thin it was easy to apply with no drips and gave a good finish. Brush cleaned successfully with just cold water.Only downside was packaging of the product. Despite the tin having retaining clips which remained in place, the paint leaked. Thank goodness for the sealed outer plastic bag! Although a messy job, everything cleaned up easily.

Took a couple of coats
I was priming the gates which are zinc coated and the primer really took a couple of coats. It’s also good that it’s water based because it can be washed off the skin relative easy but once it’s dry it’s water proof and lasts 8 years. I used the black paint after the primer and it was way to thick, almost like tar but the primer shows under the black paint very easy so I’ve had to put 3 coats of the black hammerite just to get rid of the red primer colour and even 4 or 5 coats on some parts of the gates. The flur d lis tips of the gate are gold coloured, so I used the gold coloured hammerite which is much thinner than the black and spreads better and you get a more even coat although that red primer meant that it needed 2 to 3 coats. All in all I used to just spray paint the gates black onto the zinc coating but it chipped so easy and meant that it needed priming to keep that thick black hammerite paint from chipping but now it’s done and it won’t need doing for another 8 to 10 years but if I was to strip them and do it again I’d defiantly use the spray hammerite paint because that black tinned paint just leaves brush streaks all over place and looks a mess. Anyway, I hope that some one will see this and not make the same mistake I made and buy the hammerite spray paint.

Dose what it says on the tin
What can I say if you going to use a hammerite finish on aluminium or galvanised metal you will need to prime it with this.

Doesn't quite do what it says on the tin, but looks great...
Having bought Hammerite 'no need to undercoat or prime' paint I then read the back of the tin to discover that you do need to prime bare aluminium, so I had to buy this too.The paint is very thin and painting garden furniture that's riddled with holes in the pattern quite a bit drips through - I painted with the furniture on the lawn on a sheet of cardboard. Although it says one coat most areas had to be painted twice to get a decent coverage. I was also painting the underside and the photos show how far I could get with the 500ml tin - essentially a table and 2 and a bit chairs, I had to order another small can to finish the job. However it looked great afterwards, I prefer the red of the primer to the cream colour that we'd picked! Brushes clean easily with water and washing up liquid.
