Great watch especially since the price has dropped
This watch is pretty awesome. In addition to the standard Garmin watch features that are excellent it’s a great golf watch as well. Keeps track of your score, gives distances to front middle and back of the green like the other Garmin golf watches, but it has a couple of other features that I really like, especially the PinPointer feature that shows you which direction to aim when you’ve got a blind shot into the green. The PlaysLike distances are a nice touch as well. Virtual caddy is sometimes correct but at least half of the time I end up using a different club than recommended because of I use a rangefinder and know the exact yardage in.

Usable for much more than yardage.
Bought as a birthday gift for my father. The detail of each golf hole is better than any yardage guide he's had before. There is actual detail of each hole... surprising. The additional functions, from multi media, to health and daily living have proven to be a very welcome additional bonus. It is also fairly simple to navigate, which is great, as he is not a very young man. Highly recommend this product for value, efficiency, easy of use. Line of site and connection are all very good.

Sets a very high standard
The only watch that meets and in some ways exceeds a Apple Watch Ultra, I bought it as a golf/fitness watch but it is staying on my wrist more and more replacing my Apple Ultra. The battery time is in days (5 days or more). Apple Watch Ultra is two days at most for my usage. Fitness tracking of a Garmin can not be beaten for accuracy. This Approach S70 has a 47mm display and is super bright and easy to read. You can customize every watch face or make your own as needed. There are many watch faces in the Garmin Connect IQ Store as well as apps for free or buy. Watch bands are easy to find to replace the rubber one as I did. It is a 22mm post and I have a couple in quick connect setup for my wrist size. The price stung a little at first but now I could not think of not having it. I found a charger desk stand here on amazon that worked great after I set it up properly for my S70. Link below. It was very important for my to protect my investment with a hard glass screen protector. Link Below. All the health senors are very fast and accurate. Real time heart rate. In the last picture is my favorite watch face so far and found it at the IQ Store. HUGE Selection. Apple not so much but that is expected from them as it is a closed OS to outside input. I will never make the mistake of buying a expensive watch that will only work with only one operating system ever again. If you Golf and want to track your fitness as well buy with confidence. Wow, Garmin listened.... I've used Every "S" series, this is my favorite
Ok now I'm impressed, As a user of each of the "S" series Garmin watches , none have made me write a product review. The S70 deserves a heads up to those who think (like myself) that $700 for another golf watch is just crazy. {Well the wife had harsher words for it } but it's totally worth it. The S70 is a major upgrade across the board. The display is incredible, love the AMOLED black face while unlit. Once its activated, the colors make reading the watch very easy, even in the bright Sun. Hint: Flick your wrist like your checking the time and the watch lights-up on its own ! No more touching the display or pushing a button to read the time while you're carrying bags of grocery's. The heart rate monitor and pulse oximeter is actually accurate , the step counter and sleep timer replaces any need for a smart watch as well. The fairway's depictions are so much nicer and you can move the crosshairs to a layup location and get your distance. Not just 150/100 yards etc.. The "Play's Like" feature was a welcomed surprise also. Now I haven't tried the the music feature and I haven't purchased the detailed greens subscription yet but I will. For now the greens still look amazing and includes more tools for details of the green. I played Golf today, 18 holes , step feature, checked heart rate and pulse ox and my battery is still at 90%. So the battery life is improved as well. * You can use your old power cords from the S30 and up ! I always disliked how that cord plugged into the back of the watch, it never felt completely seated properly. Well this S70 actually clicks in !!! Plus the watch band is much more rugged and has 2 loops to hold the end of the watchband down. I've broken so many of those in the past. Maybe these will last longer... Summation: If your on the fence because of the price, think again. It's the best upgrade so far and I don't regret this purchase at all. It's totally worth it this time.. Great Job Garmin !!!

It’s also a great watch
As far as golf functionality goes, the S70 does more than any golf watch I’ve ever used, including the Apple watch with golf apps. I especially like the pin pointer (which way does this hole go?) and the mapping of hazards. The display is super sharp and bright, easily readable in direct sunlight. What really separates the S70 is its functionality as a watch. The face is configurable in settings for style, color, and info widgits. I keeps steps, heart rate, date, and charge level on the watch face. I own about 10 watches but I am usually sporting the S70, tee time or not.

Difficult to use around the green
I've had this watch for several months now and have played about 20 rounds with it. From the tee to the approach it works really well, detecting your swings and prompting you for the club used. However, when you get close to the green then it does a poor job of detecting chip shots (meaning you have to add them in manually), and worse, once it thinks you're on the green you can't go back to off-the-green. So tracking your chips and putts becomes problematic. I realize there's an issue with GPS accuracy at short distances like around the green but Garmin's approach with the S70 seems to be the worst possible. People on the Garmin user site have made lots of suggestions on how to make it better but Garmin doesn't seem to be listening. Several people have asked how I like this watch and I have to tell them I just can't recommend it right now.

Love it!!!
Everything about it is amazing!! Battery lasts easily10-14 days with normal use! Never have a problem reading the screen in the sun! Durability is great! I wear it every day and the screen and bezel still look amazing! GPS is very accurate when comparing to my range finder! While it isn't cheap.... It's worth EVERY penny!!!

Garmin Programmers take notice
Oh how I love and hate this watch at the same time. So there are a few things with this watch that need to be fixed. Firstly, for all golfers are you ideally supposed to be wearing this watch on your target side hand, also known as your golf hand. For those of us who wear gloves, no matter the glove (so far) the main red golf button inevitably get pushed down either kicking you out of the golf mode, putting you into your settings mode (middle button), or asking if you want to power down the watch (middle button long hold). On a typical round of golf I get each one of these issues a half dozen or more times. It is really annoying and is directly cause by the buttons being on the right side of the watch and interacting with the band on your glove. I am very surprised this does not happen to more people, but it happens to me regularly. In my opinion this could have been solved by simply putting the buttons on the left side of the watch face. However, we are stuck with what engineering and R+D has decided. So you have only a couple of options. Wear it on your trail wrist which misses a lot of shot tracking. Put it in lock mode which each time you then use it the watch will need to come out of the lock mode, which is annoying. Or get the programmers at Garmin figure out a way to update the software to avoid some or all of these button depression issues. One other, stop cupping your wrist at impact, ok ok... we are amateur golfers, it's going to happen. So, you can see there are some issues here and I don't believe how this got by R+D. I do love this watch and rely on it regularly. If I was to add a bit more there are some other issues that are related to playing and tracking golf shots. You can start to mis-track your shots which will start to screw up your internal caddie recommendation. So for instance if you hit a bad shot and log the club you used it starts to track that lesser yardage. I wish there was a further prompt that might give you a thumbs up or down. Like that shot you hit with your 7 iron did that feel good or bad and then it would start to track your personal feels per shot per club. This again could a be a software adjustment. It needs work, but I will continue to deal with it's flaws, because there still is a lot of goods that come along with it.
