My son is 16 months and little book worm. After a little online researching looking for fun educational books, I discovered Sandra Boynton. Her reviews were excellent so I did not hesitate to order volume one. The 4 board books arrive in a thick cardboard box for easy storage. The pages are very thick and durable, they withstand rough handling as well as lots of biting and drooling from my son. The simple rhyming stories are very engaging and educational. The target age range is 2 to 5 years old, but my son will happily sit and listen to them. One thing I love about this range is the illustration is very engaging. My son will point out animals and make their sounds etc and they capture and retain his attention through the entire story. I didn't know what to expect from the books having not heard of the author before, so thought it would be helpful to detail the books. The 4 books include; 1 - Blue Hat, Green Hat - This story teaches simple colours and items of clothing. The wrong way to wear each item is displayed by a silly Turkey. It reads; Blue Hat, Green Hat, red Hat ... OPPS Red Shirt, Blue Shirt, Yellow Shirt, OPPS Yellow Pants, red Pants, Green Pants,OPPS Blue Coat ... OPPS Red Socks ... OPPS Green Shoes, Yellow Shoes, Blue Shoes, OPPS Yellow Hat, Green Shirt, Blue Pants, Purple Socks, Red Shoes ... OPPS 2 - Moo, Baa, La La La - This story teaches simple animal noises and is fantastic for encouraging your child to point out the various animals and the sounds they make. It reads; A cow says Moo A sheep says Baa Three singing pigs say La La La "No, No!" you say, that isn't right The pig says OINK all day and night Rhinoceroses SNORT and SNUFF and little dogs go RUFF RUFF RUFF Some other dogs go BOW WOW WOW And cars and kittens sat MEOW QUACK says the duck A horse says NEIGH It's quite now, what do YOU say? 3 - Doggies - This book counts from 1 to 10 and is lots of fun. each dog has a different bark, meaning you can be very silly and giggle all the way through. Some examples detailed are different to anything I would think of so it introduces your little one to new animals. They frequently keep my son entertained when eating out .. as well as the adults. I have also purchased the next instalment as we love this so much Boynton's Greatest Hits: Volume 2/The Going-To-Bed Book; Horns to Toes; Opposites; But Not the Hippopotamus I highly recommend! This as well as Boynton's Greatest Hits: Volume 2 are a great set of books. I have to confess as a first time parent i had never heard of Sandra Boynton before, but i am glad i invested in both the two volumes for my little girl. The books are amusing and educational at the same time. Not overly complicated either, so my 14 month old doesn't get bored. The collection consists of: "blue hat, green hat" A simple book about an elephant, bear, moose and turkey trying on different clothes of varying colours. The turkey always gets these wrong. I imagine this book will be brilliant to teach my daughter colours in the future. "doggies" We absolutely adore this book. Its a simple counting book, counting dogs from one to ten plus a little surprise in the shape of a terrified cat at the end. Each dog barks in differing ways and my partner does fantastic impressions which we all love i.e 'Seven dogs... woof! yap yap! ...nnn ...nnn ..nnn .. ruff! ruff! ruff! ruff! bow wow wow wow! Ar rooff! Ar rooff! Ar roof! Arf arf arf! Arf arf arf! Arf! RROWFF!...and one more makes eight.' The arf arf arf part has us in hysterics:) "A to Z" Alphabet and rhyming book, ie 'E: elephant eating. F: frogs frowning' This hasn't quite got my daughters attention yet, but the potential is there in the future. "Moo, Baa, La la la!" 'A cow says Moo. A sheep says BAA. Three singing pigs say LA LA LA!' My daughter loves the animal sound effects her daddy makes when reading this, and keeps her attention welll, i think this will become a firm favourite in the future. At the moment doggies is our stand out favourite, but i really cant fault the rest. 5* author and four brilliant books.

Moo baa la la la was my son't favourite book thirty years ago. I had to read it hundreds of times to the plea of "Again please Mummy!". I was overjoyed to find it for my granddaughter. Just had a text from my son to say he could see why he had loved it so much as a baby, and how much he had enjoyed reading it to his daughter. Babies love the repetition of sounds and the jolly, yet simple, illustrations can be recognised from an early age.

These books are so much fun to read with your babies, they love the silly/funny rhymes and sounds! Makes reading time fun and special!

Bought for friend's new baby. Obviously won't be needed straight away but brilliant books that every home should have. My children only discovered these from the library and became quickly addicted to the humour and silly faces that mummy had to make while reading them. Moo Baa La La La was their favourite.

Moo, Bah, Oops Happiness. I've bought books by this author for several new parents. So fun!

Boynton is brilliant with her books being fun and right size for little hands, son loves these and waiting for daughter to be right age to enjoy best books aren't in this box set try dinosaurs, tickle time and barnyard dance.

Joyous. Silly. All children should have Boyntons in their libraries, from birth. I seek her out to give as gifts; spread the word, and all those happy characters. I used to have the entire text of Dogs imprinted in my brain.

Kids favourite books in our household. Have been reading them since age 1 and now the oldest is 5 but still likes to read these before bed. Love them.

I bought these for my grandchildren and they love them all.

Sandra Boynton makes great books for children. My son has enjoyed her books from the age of 4mo to now at 16mo. We read atleast three a night and he is constantly bringing them to his mom and I to read to him.

Bought this set to read in my toddler classes and I always have to read ALL FOUR OF THEM! They roll on the floor laughing every time...

As a pediatric speech therapist who works with toddlers, I love to use Sandra Boynton books in my therapy sessions. The simple but fun illustrations are perfect for keeping the attention and focus of even the busiest toddlers. Her use of couplets allows for fun reading that can often be sung. The use of repetitive phrases or words in many of her books supports memorization of the text and participation when reading the books. The use of action words encourages movement and acting out many stories. My 3 favorites for toddlers with speech and language delays are in this set: 1. "Moo, Baa LaLaLa!" is super short-- which is perfect for toddlers. The animal sounds are great for building imitations of sounds and words. It is so silly and fun that the kids want to hear it over and over. 2. "Doggies" has dogs, which most kids love. There are many great combinations of consonant and vowel sounds, and a lot of repetition for practice while reading. Boynton's usual good humor and simple illustrations are another great asset. 3. "Blue Hat, Green Hat" is such a fun book. With the repetition of the word "oops" and the silly turkey, I can read this book 4 or 5 times in one sitting. Bonus is that it works on colors and the names of common clothing items "A to Z" is another great read and a fun way to play around with alphabet sounds
