A great piece of kit
I rarely write reviews as I fundamentally disagree with the system. If something you buy is OK/satisfactory I don't believe it warrants 5 stars. If something is better than you expect then it warrants 4 stars. It is only if something is much better than you expect, i.e. highly effective then in my view it gets five stars. So why does this get 5 from me?It is a solid, easy to set up and adjust piece of kit. Over four decades I have worn out/knackered a number of honing guides sharpening my chisels, those of family and friends and even those of some workmen. I have now used this on 6 chisels in various states of wear from poor to good, and it has done a great job on all of them, ranging in size from 34mm - 12mm.Because it holds the chisel securely you get an even face at whatever angle you set, and the single wheel is broad enough to stop it rocking if you apply uneven pressure as you get tired.I looked at spending more than double on the supposed RR of honing guides, but I'm really pleased I went for this one instead. In my opinion, great value for money.

Few reservations about this product
Having recently been badly stung by a similar Sakar product I looked at this one because of the vertical clamping screw figuring it could not really be any worse and to be honest I was really surprised by the quality of it when it arrived. Be aware this is no lightweight device, it is a solid, chunky and heavy piece of gear into which you can clamp a blade or chisel firmly and accurately though it does struggle with smaller chisels to get the angle right it can be made to work for you with a little perseverance. For UK-type chisel sets it is great but is useless for my Japanese types and took a full boxed set of New Marples I have had sitting around for years now to a mirror finish in a couple of hours which is not bad for something that looks like it was cut out with an axe. Typically bad UK QC I guess. Overall I am very happy with the tool for the right circumstances.

Good service
I thought there was a piece missing and company got back to me very quickly it turns out the small part was not missing so I am sorry for complaining. Very well made and hopefully it will improve my sharpening skills.

Looks good but ...
Looks like a great idea but unless you have Very long chisels / plane blade or whetstone you will be unable to use it due to the vast length.that has to stick out to make thr right angle.Nice ornament.

Takes up to much of the stone
Ok for high angles but setting for low angles not good for short stones

Will only fit wood chisels
Is not wide enough for plane blades

A modern alternative to traditional whetstones
Compared to my dad’s old whetstones in wooden trays, this weighs almost nothing. The ‘stones’ here are thin sheets of powdered grit material glued to the blue triangular bit. The 400 grit is diamond powder glued an aluminium sheet in a hexagonal pattern. I assume the pattern, which creates recessed channels, is to allow steel particles a route to escape. The 1000# is a finer grit glued in one continuous surface. The 8000# is a white (ceramic?) surface which feels quite smooth. The actual grinding surfaces measure 15cm/6” long by 5cm/2” wide, perhaps a bit smaller than traditional whetstones, certainly in length. My suspicion is that these will not have the longevity of a traditional whetstone, once the surface grit has rubbed off, it is gone forever. The profile of the ends of the triangular part and the shape of the cradle is practical. In use, you’re not putting that much downward or lateral pressure on it. The black plastic base does have grippy rubber pads at each end and these proved effective at keeping the ‘stone’ still while I used it, even on a smooth melamine worktop. Some of my real whetstones have a longer abrasive surface than these and generally, the longer the better. The knife sharpening notch, at one end, is a small bonus.I don’t believe I had either 1000# or 8000# stones, this will be useful. Personally, I found the listing confusing, a single page has three COLOUR choices, but two relate to “N&S Juvyig Honing Guide Tool-Woodworking Sharpening Holder of Whetstone-Adjustable Angle Knife Sharpener for Chisels and Planes 0-2.55 inches”, while the blue choice is this “Diamond Sharpening Stone” product.

These diamonds are not forever
Review of N&S Juvyig Diamond Sharpening Stone 3 Sides Grit 400/1000/8000,Well I was expecting great usage of this diamond wet sharpening stone, unfortunately only obtained great disappointment.First tried this with kitchen knives, the first two sharpened quite well, after that the work and time required got longer and longer and the knives still no where near sharp, eventually had to revert back to my chef’s steel which bought life back to the blades in minutes.Next the chisel and plane blades, again after fifteen minutes I gave up, the diamond pattern appearance of the 400 grit achieved very little, the flat surface of the 1000 grit the same and the white faced 8000 grit just turned into a black sludge when using water. This triangular shaped stone and non slip base an excellent idea, unfortunately the material used for the three sharpening surfaces did not work for me and the knife sharpener on the end failed after several uses.Personally one will remain attached to a normal grit sharpening stone for large equipment blades and a chef's steel for knives.
