Escape goat > Problem solved!
Sturdy and effective!I chose these over other designs because the ankle size doesn't open and close. Size it to your goat's cannon bone and it stays put! It's not a tea party putting them on, but what a simple and cheap solution to try before spending much more time and money on fencing (wood, wire, voltage). So many uses! Keep goats from escaping being a main one! Especially when seperating kids from their mom. Or how about seperating a buck from the does. Not sure if that would be healthy long term (and they are not padded, so comfort could be an issue). Not a problem around here, but others have mentioned using it for kicking milkers. I bought one and I want MORE!!! But I probably don't need more. I would sell these!

Perfect if used correctly.
We ordered this to help us milk a very stubborn mama goat. It works! Just make sure to watch videos on how to use it correctly. It has to be put on above the joint, if not she will just slip out of it. I am sure we will be using this for years to come!

Easy to use
They work great and are priced appropriately. But even for a large standard sized breed, the Velcro straps are very, very long and do get in the way of milking a little bit. They're easy to use after you put them on one time and are useful for training a first freshener.

Goat didn't like them much.
It appears to be well made, but figuring out how to use it is a bit of a head scratcher. I got them strapped on to our fussy goat but she still acted up with them on so maybe I didn't get them on right. I found them rather frustrating. Your mileage may vary.

It let me enjoy, milking my goats!!
The durability looks great...should last for a LONG time!! It stopped the goat from planting her hoof into the pail. I just recently had back surgery at the end of January, and then my goat kidded a month later. Bending over and fighting a goat to prevent mastitis, by milking her was starting to affect my health...which made the chore even harder.Because of this tool, I can now milk her again, WITHOUT problems. Tonight was the first time I used it, and it was kinda comical watching the goat, as she realized, she couldn't kick/put her foot into the bucket. She then sat there like a good girl, and let me finish milking. She only has a single buckling, and he only will nurse on one side, so I have to milk her on the side he doesn't nurse from.I actually love milking goats, and am thankful that I got this quickly! Oh, I have Nigerian Dwarfs as well, and it works like a charm on the NDs as well!

They DO fit Nigerian Dwarf goats
Many reviews are complaining that these don’t fit their Nigerian Dwarf goats, but they DO fit them, if put on properly. I’ve attached three images of these hobbles on one of my finest-boned does (thinnest legs of my herd).First, they are supposed to be placed on the upper legs. You can still milk from behind (I do) but you will have to reach around the outside of your doe’s legs not between them. I find this position gives me better control of their stepping or kicking as well, protecting my milk pail. You will also have to ignore /override the pre-folded indentations on the straps and pull them tighter than that. I found that positioning them so that the metal buckle of each side is toward the front of the leg/thigh helped me more easily tighten to fit snugly. The hobbles are very well constructed and I anticipate them lasting a long time.

Doesn't work for jumpers!
This product was hard to put on the goat and get fastened. My goat is a jumper so this was worthless. I'll be returning the item and making my own.

Best $12 item on Amazon / Channeling inner Donald Trump
Best $12 item on Amazon / Channeling inner Donald TrumpMy wife grew up milking 20 dairy goats a day, me, none. She took mornings, and I got evenings. Goat started kicking lately, lifting leg and slamming it down on the bucket. I developed a weird udder half nelson where I shoved my arm up and locked her leg in the air or would hold it down while I milked one handed. After a bad session where she got the better of me I ordered these. My wife said the goat would panic and throw herself off the stand. Its time to channel my inner Donald Trump "WRONG!"These are F#$%# AWESOME --- she kicked a bit when I put it on her kicky leg and when I took it off. Other than that she was a calm as a doped up psych patient. The goat stood there and took it like a sheep! The hobbles did not stop the stink eye and if looks could kill ... But I was able to use both hands to evacuate the udder and did it completely! yea!!!!I saw two videos on youtube, one above the knees and one at the hooves. I used the just above the knees mounting points as that seemed more reasonable. Next time I will start attaching and detaching with the non-kicking leg.go go goaty shackles -- two hooves up!Update, yesterday I did not need them but this morning I did. She was a little more kicky but the hobbles did their job and she calmed right down ... they still are not stopping the stink eye ... I guess you cant expect everything!

Works great!!
Love this! Life saver if you have goats who like to kick while milking, I've tried it at the ankles and also above the knees, they both work but putting it above the knees works best for us. No more hooves in our milk or spills!

Tricky
A very well made product. I wish the buckled were attached so they didny fall off when opening. Holding everything in place while trying to hobble a feisty goat is no easy feat! I'm sure vith goat and I will get used to it and it will become easier.

but I am so glad I bought them
These are a lifesaver for training goats on the milk stand. They don't hurt the goats, but prevent the feett from kicking forward. They can still "hop around" if they are really determined to kick, but can't get kick the hobbles off or get a foot in the bucket of lovely milk. My main milk goat right now no longer needs them, but I am so glad I bought them. "Never cry over spilt milk" does not apply when your goat kicks over a full bucket of worked for milk! These hobbles are worth the investment. I rated them 4 rather than 5 stars because you have to be careful when taking them on and off that they don't fall apart... but they are easily put back together.
