Q: is the glass tube detachable to the base? (I.e could I swap & change glass tubes for different moods)

Yes, the glass tube is a separate unit, in theory you could change from Glitter to Lava but the base will only fit Nova Sized glass bottles, I would not recommend putting a different bottle into the base

Q: It says on the pack it takes 3 hours to warm up. Does that mean you have to wait 3 hours for the glitter to start moving?

Even from my first use the glitter moved pretty quickly. Sometimes it gets a bit stuck but a light tap or gently moving the lamp sorts it out for me.

Q: What type bulb does this lamp take please have some bulbs from old gliiter lamp and wondered if same before i buy this lamp

Sorry, I bought this for my granddaughter and I’ve not seen it in action yet so I can’t answer your question.
