The Mummy Returns
Okay, so the first major point about this game, is that it is not good versus evil, but good or evil. You can play either as Imotep and use spells, run away from cats, and kidnap Alex. OR as Rik, and use swords, guns, rifles, have to be constantly searching for ammo, and trying to save Alex. The game basically follows the same story line as the film, with a few pleasant extras thrown in, such as more time playing with the Pygmy mummies, problem solving activities, and a scene in the jungle where Rik has to fight crocodiles, shortly followed by a selection of resurected Roman Soldiers, which i'm pretty sure didn't feature in the film. All in all a great game, which can supply hours and hours of fun, as once you've finished playing on one side, you switch to the other and are suppplied with a completely different game. The end of the game is probably the most hardest, due to a one to one combat with the Scorpion King who is almost impossible to beat. The controls are quite hard to master, but once you get the hang of them, it's easy, but when i first started to play, i had to have the booklet open at the controls page. But still a fantastic game, definately worth the price!

Not bad.
I must confess I've only played this for about twenty minutes, just a couple of instant things stick out, firstly the voiceovers are awful, the guy being Rick (Brendan Fraser) is absolutely dreadful likewise the rest of them, the controls, whilst fiddly, are really only like B,G and E,clumsy at first but picked up quickly,it is save anywhere so that's not too bad, seems okay.

Terrible
Me and friends purchased multiple games this afternoon, but we were most looking forward to playing the Mummy Returns. We were salivating in anticipation during the brilliant intro video. However the game was so awful, we burnt it in the garden, disk and all, so it never ends up in another ps2 ever again

Not the best adaptation of the film...
Games based on movies are a variable bunch. Some are good while others are terrible. This one wasn't particularly bad but it wasn't particularly enjoyable. While it does seem to follow the general premise of the film, there are some differences, though being offered the choice between the hero or the villain was good. Why don't more games do that? Playing heroes can get boring after a while. The camera angles could be annoying and the controls were a little tricky to get to grips with at times. It was also rather slow to start, but this is a norm with games of this type. They usually are, but this one felt slower, though playing as Imhotep was more fun.The voiceovers. Don't get me started. They were absolutely awful. They don't even sound vaguely like the characters. Finally, the graphics. I never take much notice of graphics but if you compare the graphics of this to the graphics of Shadow of the Colossus, you can see that this game has worse graphics. This shouldn't detract from gameplay too much but it shows that the graphics aren't up to the PS2's full potential.A rather mixed bag, all in all. Feel free to try it but only if you can pick it up cheaply.

Decent
Mummy Returns is a good game but with a couple of flaws. First off u get 2 choose the mummy bloke, imhotep, or the dodgy accent guy, Branden Fraiser, aka rick. When u start you'll notice that the graphics are decent but the fightings a bit guff. But it gets better when u get equipped with swords, guns and other weapons like mummys feet and heads. Ricks levels are a bit dodgy and more runny and jumpy than imhoteps, but imhotep gets all the cool spells. Here are my ratingsGraphics - 4/5Sound - 5/5Gameplay - 3/5Lifespan - 3/5Good pointsThe soul suckhaving 2 swords at the same timebeating someone over the head with a mummys footthe characters voicesimhotepBad pointsHard to control sometimesannoying camrascats & scorpiansOverall - a decent game thats worth the money

This game made me wanna off myself!
Absolutely awful! You think you're progressing and then no. Some glitch will cause you to fall though a bridge, sending you right back to the start of a level. There are some next level roid rage scorpions that take 60+ shots to kill, and then we get to the controls..... the camera angle is shocking, the shooting aim is non existent. There are glitches that cause your character to do a moonwalk worthy of the king of pop himself. And then... then it comes to jumping. You line yourself up, take the time to make sure you're in the perfect place, and then boom, he jumps sideways in the opposite direction like some gravitational challenged crab, and ultimately falls to his death returning you to the beginning of the level again. I am determined to finish this game as my mum didn't raise a quitter, but when I have, please be assured the disk will be going in the shredder. I wouldn't even have the balls to sell it for 99p on eBay, as I feel the buyer would post manure through my postbox.Overall I guess I'm saying I wouldn't recommend.
