Solid performance. Wait for price to drop across generation.
To begin with, this thing is overkill. I have tried everything from Samsung 970 through Samsung 990 pro in my current rig. (Ryzen 7950x3d and Nvidia 4090 both water cooled). And the perceived user differences are negligible at best for daily tasks and gaming. With that said, larger file transfers and drive imaging are blazingly fast. Transfers and copies that used to take minutes now seconds, hours now minutes. Hereโs some results from day one I received. (Bottom result with stock cooling fan/heat sink. Later results are with newest bios revision for motherboard and an aftermarket heat sink/fan. Because despite being in the pcie 5 slot, and being set in bios as that. It wasnโt reading or writing anywhere near where it should. This thing is legit. And absolutely will blow gen 4 NVME out of the water. The caveat being, you really. Really donโt need this for 90% of tasks/games

Works perfectly and Gen 5 fast. Stock cooling fan is ridiculously loud. Lucky you dont need it.
As others warned, the stock fan is virtually unusable due to its noise level. And it stays on CONSTANTLY. Fortunately you can just opt to not plug it in. It runs at about 49c just idling and 56c stable with GPU at full load without the fan and using the stock blue heat sink, about 10C higher than the other NVME's. But understandable being my C drive. Overall just had to experience having a Gen 5 NVME as the main system drive and very impressed at Inland's early offering.

m.2 Gen 5 2 TB with a fan
The little fan sounded like a jet engine. It was louder than all of the fans combined on my older computer. Generic Gen 5 likely runs too hot to operate without the fan plugged in so I had to return it. I didn't want to risk the m.2 going bad in 11 months from heat.

Could not Use due to Motherboard Design
I bought this to use in my ASUS Hero Z97 motherboard. Unfortunately, the only way to use this storage device's full potential is by connecting it to a PCIe 5 capable connector. On the Hero Z97, the PCIe 5 connector come on an Expansion Board. The Expansion board PCIe connection lays so close to the Graphics Card that it is literally strangling the video card for cooling air. I spent $1000+ on my graphics card. ASUS made a bad move packing an expansion card that is as large/larger than many graphics cards but only allows connecting up to 2 NVME storage drives. The large, unlighted card also looks ugly inside of a glass PC case. ASUS never ceases to amaze me with brilliance and astound me with carelessness.

Severely disappointing
Runs slower than some of my less expensive drives. It's hot, but partly due to manufacturers putting the slot right next to a graphics card. This one never reached speeds higher than 5k. My adata and Team group are both faster and 1/2 the cost. The fan system seems to be ineffective and not easily removed. I am returning this overly expensive piece.

Very fast. Runs cool and quiet with better heatsink.
I'm using this with an Asus Z790 Apex, which is unusual in that the Gen5 SSD slot is on an add-in board in the third PCIe slot. The advantage is that this board has a very large and heavy heat sink, which is cooled by a pair of 250mm case fans. Removing the factory heat sink required the removal of four tiny screws, and carefully removing the thermal tape. During testing, the SSD temp ranged from 26C to 34C. These low temps will ensure long life. I've attached images from two readily available disk benchmarks. I also ran 3DMark's "Storage Benchmark" which returned a score of 4851. This is the currently-available top-end model. I highly recommend it.
