Find Your Frame: A Street Photography Masterclass

If you're into street photography this is a great little book to read. There aren't many books I read from cover to cover in one go, if at all, but this certainly kept my interest. Plenty of ideas and inspiration which I believe have helped my observational skills.

Really good insights and fantastic photos. Not very technical, focusses on the thought process rather than camera settings, although does discuss what focal lengths work for him.

I really enjoyed reading this, but I wouldn't go in expecting a deep dive. While some of the images included are absolutely amazing, the quality isn't consistent throughout. Additionally, it doesn't provide a ton of specific or advanced information. Instead of a true masterclass, the content leans more toward general photography basics. It's a pleasant read, just keep your expectations in check if you're looking for detailed street photography techniques.

I found it inspiring. I read it from cover to cover in one sitting…..and I have the attention span of a goldfish. I’ve read it through three times since I bought it and often pick it up to just browse the images.

I recently got back into photography and came across the Instagram page of Craig Whitehead. After looking at a couple of his posts I instantly grabbed this book and it's one of the best books I've read I really like how the focus is on the technique or rather mindset, rather than gear, settings, exposure triangle etc. It's a great read focusing more on advice than instruction and that really speaks to me. I've already changed the way I look at the world and find myself re-reading a section every couple of days. Would highly recommend this book to people finding their way in photography or looking to push outside of the the "typical" or what's popular

Tldr : There is a lot of value in this book at a great price and package. Firstly, it is full of great images made by Craig. I assume most who buy this book have seen much of his work in social media but their physical form is far superior. Secondly, the writing is actually useful, relaxing and engaging. I mostly picked it up for the photos thinking of skipping most of the writing but it turned out to be enlightening. Last but not least, its form. Easy to carry around and fits in pretty much every bag. If you enjoy such street images you can carry it with you with ease if you are looking for inspiration on the go. Craig thank you very much for giving the street community something that useful in every aspect.

The title of this book is very apt - presenting different ways to frame photographs is at its heart. It has some great pictures but others less so. For example, the author likes putting, objects in front of the subjects face, like a hand (p6) , a lampshade (p82) or at window frame(p104), creating images that are more of a novelty than something of lasting interest in my view. The book explores many ways of framing the subjects of photographs, but with results of varying interest. There are a handful of great images (such as a lone person on steps in Rome) but I found most a little bit underwhelming in one way or another. The images on the back cover are fairly typical of the standard the book achieves. My copy, now read, will be going to the charity bookstore. As for for a score, 4 stars is slightly generous.

Não há o que dizer de Craig Whitehead, excelente fotografo de rua que decidiu compatilhar suas experiencias em um excelente livro.
