OK but indication not very clear
The AlcoProof breathalyser is easy to use, claimed as NF approved, but the indication of alcohol level is not too clear. The product consists of yellow crystals in a glass tube, with a red marker line at one end. As you blow, the red line turns white to indicate that you have provided an adequate breath sample. If there is alcohol on your breath, the yellow crystals also begin to turn green-ish from the end at which you are blowing. If crystals turn green beyond a thin black line that indicates the legal alcohol limit, then you are over the limit. The only problem is that the colour contrast between the remaining yellow crystals and those turning green-ish is not very clear, so it's difficult to read. I tried a tester at home after drinking half a bottle of wine (which I'd expect to put me well over the the French limit of 0.5), but thought my indication on the tester was borderline. Of course, you should drink no alcohol before driving! Not sure if all makers of this type of tester use the same chemical principle?
