Corn Starch Instant Clear-Jel for Canning and Baking

I have got into canning food at home and my research led me to purchase a pack of this Clearjel cornstarch product. It works very well - very similar to the job done by bog standard cornflour but remains stable during the intense heat of the pressure canning process. However I was frustrated to find it out of stock when I came to buy a second pack.This led me to research what exactly Clearjel is. Turns out it is something called 'waxy maize starch'. Apparently beloved by body builders and so I purchased a pack of Peak Supplements waxy maize powder and gave it a try in some vegetable soup. Worked like a dream! Time will tell if it stands up to lengthy storage and then reheating, but a jar reheated, kept its thickness perfectly.

Whoo hoo! I can now get this in the UK, without asking friends to bring it back from the USA when I order it online and have it sent to their hotel! My friends love you for this. Tops for canning pie filling, cordials, and thickening pancake syrups. Mant thanks please keep stocking it in the UK. Having purchased in desperation other modified cornstarch thickeners hoping they would do the same job and was disappointed I am very very pleased to be able to grab this product over here ! Since my initial purchase I have purchased 4 more lots... it is great stuff !

Excellent product I would have liked the option to have the instant one as well as the cooked one Amazon take note Also This product has increased in price from my initial purchases by more than 2 pounds. It is as if once people start to buy it they automatically put up the price. I have noticed this With more than one product that I have purchased it is infuriating

1. there are other modified corn starches -this is by far the best value.not cheap when compared to normal corn starch but --you can not compare apples and oranges2. i use this for thickening sauces with absolutely no thinning after it has been added.3. this stuff is superb. sauce maintains its consistency with heat applied

This is good stuff and very easy to use . The end results are very good also . More information about how to use would be better as ‘ half a cup’etc means very little.At least put ( example) ‘x’ many ounces to a 10 inch pie dish as an example should give good results , mixing of course to taste.

Love that I can get this delievered to the U.K. nowI can now use to thicken up my pie fillings and jellies tat haven’t set

I used this to make apple pie filling and am so pleased with how everything turned out. It was easy to use and I will definitely be purchasing again.

There aren't any instructions for use and the reply I received from the manufacturer was vague. It is therefore possible that I used too much and ended up with a jelly like consistency. I have bern very reluctant to use it again in case I spoil what I am making. It is unpredictable because you don't see how thick it is going to get until it all cools down. It was an expensive experiment and it probably won't get used. On the upside, it doesn't appear to have any flavour.
