I bought the 5-foot version of the Summer gate. I like the ease of installation, sturdiness, materials (including the wooden door), the width of the door and the ease of operation. It is also one of the best-looking gates available. The only thing missing are supports for the gate extensions, without which the gate does bend with front-to-back pressure at the joints. I happened to have stabilizing supports for the gate extensions left over from two Cumbor gates and it turned out that these fit the Summer gate very well (See photos demonstrating 6 such supports installed, 3 on top rails & 3 on bottom rails). The gate now feels very solid.

The connection points at the max distance are too weak to accommodate anything over two of the extensions that come with it. The gate wobbles back and forth marring up the floor and can be pushed or pulled open.

We’ve had many comments on how nice our baby gate looks.It is spring loaded, but you still need to screw into your wall for the maximum safety, fyi!

I replaced all of my gates in my home (previously for small children, now for a dog) with Summer gates. Compared to others, they are sturdy, made well and have great covered hinges that for sure will last many many years. We use this one between our family room and kitchen. We have an extra wide opening and this gate is perfect. I had to use all of the attachments, but compared to others it is sturdy and doesn't warp around those extra pieces that are required. The door/gate itself is wider then most and allows for a very large person to walk freely through it.When removing the stickers, i did scratch some of the finish on the top of the gate, a little black sharpie on those spots, and you can't even tell.When it comes to install, you will need a wrench to tighten which can take a few minutes, but well worth it. This particular gate comes with wall anchors as well, which i used and believe are needed.

Listen to the other review. The latch doesn’t work properly and returning it is going to be a hassle. It’s a beautiful gate but you won’t be able to use it straight out of the box without fixing/modifying the latch system.

Brand new unopened box received. One pin was bent and missing it's plastic shroud. The whole frame was bent. At twice the price for a comparable gate I expect more.

Broke latch right out of the box had to rig it up because returning it is just to much trouble just crap.
