easy to understand
this is a great book that explains how vaccines work in a way that is easy to understand for kids. One hopes that adults will also learn lessons so they can be armed with accurate information instead of false beliefs about science.

Excellent, factual and age-appropriate
This book is clear and factual. It presents basic information about the history of vaccines, along with a short update about the recent Covid-19 pandemic. It does a good job of covering key developments in the forerunners to modern-day vaccines, such as the trailblazing contributions of Onesinus, an enslaved Bostonian who advised Cotton Mather on inoculation techniques for smallpox.Like most picture books, it is designed for a 4- to 8 year-old audience. You know your own child best as far as what age to read this -- some young children will be fascinated by the science, some will enjoy the illustrations, and a few might be anxious to hear mentions of illnesses like polio, smallpox, and Covid that can cause injury or death. Happily, the story's tone as a whole is calm and reassuring.
